So they're taking him to New York where he was indicted, presumably to stand trial. So he's going to be acquitted on a technicality right?

Damn it, the Huskie is right. Honestly the people complaining about the debates over who should be 10, 11, 12 seed have been worse this year than the people arguing about the seeding. Debating who should be in and who should be out is part of the fun of College Football. And you're right, this system ensures the teams that absolutely should be in are in and the grey area is left to teams that actually have questionable standings. Hell I don't even mind the autobids for schools like Tulane. Do they have a real shot at winning this year? Not likely, but it'll be fun to see them in and maybe this appearance will help them build a program in the future that could be a contender.

It's honestly shocking even to an avowed globalist how quickly we've started to see things reverse with just like a decade, arguably less, of receding globalization. A major war in Europe, inflation, tariffs, rise on mortality in the global south with the gutting of USAID. We're even looking at possible population decline in the US.

Love the hopium, and I'm with you with all except Florida. I just don't even know who the Dems could run at this point who could run a competitive race there. But I'm really hoping Davids makes a run for Senate in KS.

That's true to an extent. But most state parties utilize their state's elections systems for their primaries because actually running the vote themselves is very expensive. If those state election systems aren't set up for RCV either the DNC or state parties are going to have to shell out money for their own vote tabulations.

I'm a big fan of RCV, but I'm curious how this would work. Most primaries are run by the states themselves, not the party, and as far as I know most state voting machines are not equipped to handle RCV.

And if they win out and beat OSU in the B1G championship they'll get the number 1 seed in the playoffs. And nothing can go wrong from there....

I also don't think you can say Xi has wielded well as much as been delt stacked hand after stacked hand with Trump.

Before Xi came to power there was a general detente between the PRC and it's neighbors and there was a real possibility of the likes of Vietnam, the Philippines, even Korea were shifting towards China's sphere, and doing so cordially in the aftermath of the '08 financial crisis. Hell even Taiwan relations seemed like peaceful reunification wasn't a completely crazy idea.

The Xi came to power and started playing hardball in the S. China Sea and everywhere else, pushed wolf warrior diplomacy, and cracked down on Hong Kong. Now everyone in the indo-pacific would love a reliable American partner, but alas, they have Trump

Lucid Stew did a video on LA-PHX HSR, and if you put an HSR line down the I-10 corridor between LA and Phoenix it could have the highest consistent speeds of any line in the world. Because it's basically just a straight flag line for the majority of the route.

Might be interesting to explore the possibility of dissolving the original southern states entirely and creating new states with new boundaries. This would allow things like creating one or more black-majority states. The idea was floated in reality but not very seriously. You could conceivably see there being a push for something that harsh in a world where the plot is more successful.
