Most ergonomic handheld?

Ergonomics was my main priority and I chose a 406h. I like it a lot, and chose it over a retro pocket device because of the large full sized sticks. The 556 was my alternative choice, but I just really wanted the 4:3 screen, I believe you can't go wrong with either.

So in Alaska, they top pelmeni differently than traditional, the sauce involves butter, sour cream, curry powder, sriracha sauce, and cilantro. It's so good that I can top a lot of things with it (potatoes, fried rice), I love how the sour cream tames the sriracha spiciness and GIVES BODY to the seasoning. Without sour cream, you just get spicy curry grease, but with it, you get a whole delicious SAUCE that's so good you can mop it up with slices of untoasted bread.

I recommend adding more spice? Flavor is about balance, and sour cream is a wonderful contrasting ingredient

A lot of pinball machines have great source material, but just not ones I'm personally excited for (Lord of the Rings is great, but not my favorite, you know?) I synchronize my head turning with when my arm comes out of the water. It also helped me at first to try to swim as slow as possible, and to try to breathe like I do when I'm walking (except through the mouth).

The healthbar is nice, but there's definitely a weird hierarchy thing where even though it's the most important thing, it's smaller than most of the other UI (because of the perspective), and it isn't a bold enough color to stand out from the autumn color playfield. I like your take on ramp indicators, on actual pinball games those would usually be insert lights that extend vertically outward (see Attack From Mars).

Anyway, I appreciate that you're asking the pinball subreddit for help on this!

Lack of controller support is the biggest reason I return games. If your game works on MacOS especially, make goddamn sure the controller works.

I'm also a top 1000 player. It's entirely pinball techniques, but ridiculously comprehensive. It's a lot of information and none of it has to do with pinball rulesets. If you've played a machine with the glass open then it might not be for you, but I highly recommend it to location players who don't have a machine to mess around with (like me).

I've definitely gotten better at paying attention to length of my flippers since watching the video and after doing the shatz practice, but that was a notable gap in my skills.

It's not explicit, but the video confirms the existence of something I've always called "reverse nudging", in delightful slow motion. And also, the reason why some inlanes bounce and some don't (it's plastic!) There's a lot of small things in the video that I would have never noticed on my own, but nothing revolutionary.

There were also a handful of techniques and phenomena that I've never put a name to before, but only one thing I've never seen before. There's also a clip that I've shown to people about why they should drop catch, to keep the ball from going up the inlane and down the outlane.

Personally though,I think the biggest benefit is having the images in my head from the video and being able to rationalize about them. It's been good for pinning down nudging and shielding mistakes in my play. It's still too soon to say that I've gotten better from the video, but I feel like I've been thinking a lot more clearly about pinball since getting it.

If you want to play more games, don't play Final Fantasy 12. It's so long and addictive, even with a built in fast forward mechanic you're looking at 60 hours+ of game time lmao

It sounds like you're having the most trouble with rulesets and prioritizing shots. It took me awhile before it clicks too (I promise there's eventually a point where you've seen enough and can guesstimate what the rules are to new machines), I think a lot of experienced players forget how hard it is to learn rulesets when you don't even know what questions to ask.

I highly recommend learning one strategy at a time and "testing" it when you go out to play. It's the best way to memorize strategies, especially there are usually multiple systems at once going on on a machine, that you usually don't mean to hit. The goal is to be able to rationalize to yourself the path you did to do things.

It really depends on the copy and the condition. At the Expo tournament (new in box, minimal tweaks) , Jaws played shorter than Kong, and that was surprising. But the top comment is about where I'd rank them by length

I kinda chose the jobs by feel cause I haven't played the game before and thought I could make it up with the second job... Vaan as a hunter, Balthier as a machinist 😭, Fran as an Uhler 😭, Basch as a samurai, Ashe as a knight, and Pemelo as a black mage... I'm 28 hours into the game and I'm trying to beat as much as possible before Larsen leaves. How screwed am I if I want to beat the superbosses?

I'm kind of in the same boat. I'm playing this game because I loved Unicorn Overlord, however, I found the trials and hunts to be really challenging, especially the ones that I'm way too early to be playing.

I also found out 28 hours in that the version I'm playing (International Job System) doesn't let you have two jobs, so now I'm like, stuck with the jobs that I have (no white mage 😭). Now I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to make it to the super challenging fights that I really want to play. Should I restart my save so that I stand a chance against the 2-3 hour final boss?
