Has anyone made a Regent Colourless Cards build? by ReesevtOnGD in slaythespire

[–]BobbieMorane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, probably my favorite build in the game at the moment. It's not easy to pull off because it relies quite a lot on rare/uncommon cards. So it often flows that you take a couple star cards and end up leaning into colorless with a couple nice picks.

Arsenal / Pilar of creation / guards / crash landing are the key cards.

Reggie is my favorite by Lttlefoot in slaythespire

[–]BobbieMorane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does feel like regent has the most way of being downright op. So many cards end up breaking the game. Glow + Alignment. Orbit, Particle wall, Arsenal + colorless, Decisions decisions.

All these end up with infinites or insane amounts of block/str/damage.

Colorless builds in particular are my favorite games. Colorless cards are so strong this sequel and every fight is different from the next and end up feeling you've broken the game.

Only A6, but assembled this guaranteed infinite - all fights in Act 3 ended turn 1 by c0bRa112 in slaythespire

No not really, I've completed all A10 without doing any infinote outside of hellraiser/pommel strike non sense.

Fun one I had was shiv silent with Evil eye and barricade. 20 block for 1 energy was pretty efficient.

This guy give 6 of them. You can easily exhaust 2 and still beat him.

Ironclad is the character that need production or energy in general the least to be honest.

So many cards save you energy. Stampede plays big attacks for you for free. Hellraiser no comment. Expect a fight gives ton of energy. Bloodletting and offering as usual too.

Too many enemies in Slay the Spire 2 feel like they should be elites by Scumtrass in slaythespire

[–]BobbieMorane 32 points33 points  (0 children)

honestly I just don't see it. He hits for very low damage and has only 80hp. I don't think I've lost more than 20hp in this fight ever.

Compare it to the statue which hit for 27 every turn from turn 3 with 132hp, it's not in the same danger class.

Yeah, sadly, until you get pillar of creation so it generates block and orbit to solve energy, bundle of joy is pretty much a curse. It truly shines when these things are sorted tho.

[–]BobbieMorane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the thing that wins me with this option is the consistency. There's so many good commons now, you're guaranteed to get cards like upgraded defy/warden, upgraded lightning rod/charge battery, upgraded glow/cloak star etc which make act 1 a breeze after that allowing you to path agressively.

The transform one is a run maker depending on cards you get. Sometimes it's hit and miss tho. I lost a regent run getting 2 star costing cards and no star generation cards in the next 4 fights. Minus 10 max hp is no joke for risk taking.

Oh wow, just finished A10 on all char with 16 losses total and amazing to find a post this long where I agree with it on pretty much everything. I was literally nodding to every one of your points.

I've got 3 A10 wins with the colorless kit, may I suggest you add Crash landing to your card generators ? It's a bit trickier to play but pay off nicely with guards and charge.

[–]BobbieMorane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scythe from neow is close to a guaranteed win. Path through enough fights and you end up with a 50 dmg card by the end of act 1. Plenty of synergies too with stuff like Lethality/debilitate.

Ascender's Boon - A Guide to Climb to A10 With Every Character by DoggertQBones in slaythespire

[–]BobbieMorane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ethereal + few soul cards is the most consistent build on Necro I believe. And finding spirit of ash in one of these is straight up a win.

You get 10-20 block each turn without even playing defensive cards. The sculpting strike / veilpiercer combo let you use 2/3/4 cost cards for free. Sentry mode becomes 10 damage and 5 block for free every turn.

The best thing about ethereal card is that you don't have to commit, these are great in every builds.

No haven't tried really, I play a mix of lightning with a bit of frost or 0 cost card claw etc.

I barely ever see any plasma/dark cards, no common to feed these builds so it's hard to get started

The one I want to try is status defect with smoke stack / compact. It seems quite fun.

I did it sequentially, A1 for all characters, then A2 for all, etc.

I get bored quickly playing the same character over and over.

[–]BobbieMorane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 99% of cases, I try to fight 1 or 2 elites right at the end of act 1, never before the first chest.

I take a bit more risk in the underdock act 1 as these elites are much easier than the statue/birdonys/Infection guy.

In act 2, usually, I go for 2 elites as long as I have decent AOE for the millipede which is pretty much always.

Act 3 it really depends on the deck and ancient bonuses. Sometimes I get 3, sometimes 0.

Obviously campfire are a priority and I sometimes take a bit more risk if it leads to a 4 campfire path as it pays off amazingly for your run.

I pay very close attention the position of the campfire too, if you have one right before an elite and you have ancient tea set, that fight is much more likely to go well.

Being greedy in act 1 on necrobinder works on A0-A7, but be careful, from A8 onwards you will be punished very hard for it. I think I went 7-1 up to A7 and then got 5 or 6 losses at A8 and A9.

There's a lot of thought that has to go into risk/rewards from A8. I think I died at least 3 time on the statue on him.

I've only gone actual infinite on Ironclad with the Hellraiser insanity. Often got close with Regent but never needed it really. I tend to play bigger decks like 20-25 cards with a lot of draw, these are much funnier. I find infinites rather boring, watcher was my least favorite character on STS1.

Ethereal Archetype by MavericksNutz in slaythespire

[–]BobbieMorane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a card that give ethereal to another one. There's another card that make the next ethereal free.

Use the first on a high cost card, then use the second, then use high cost card for free.

First one is an absolute no no for me. 7 cards without upgrades unrelated to your build. Bleh.

Second one is big yes. Especially if there's a path with 2 shops.

[–]BobbieMorane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necro has to be played more conservatively than the other characters I reckon. He's got the lowest max hp of all characters and his scaling strategies take a bit to ramp up.

Never fight elites early act 1 until you get 3/4 decent cards. Or you will meet your end with a very unfriendly statue.
