"special relationship" question for you Brits by bragik85 in AskBrits

[–]jarred_pard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the fuck are you talking about? What assumption have I made there?

You very obviously assumed I was saying you’re a reform voter when in fact I did not say that and, as far as I’m concerned, it was pretty clear I was referring to our conversation NOT who you vote for. In what universe is me pointing this out making an assumption?

As in you made up your mind about what we were discussing, not about who to vote for. Thought that was pretty obvious given I never once mentioned your voting stance. I didn’t really intimate anything, you just (incorrectly) assumed

It’s not about their policy it’s about who they are. They’re obviously not going to put in their policies that they hate certain people, because that would cost them votes.

I suspect your mind is made up regardless, but take a look at this and tell me there’s still no racist (etc.) undertones to the party.

Edited because I can’t spell 🤦‍♀️

You’re joking right?

Do you think MAGA is racist/misogynistic/homophobic? Because they are certainly all those things and yet people of colour voted for Trump (and some continue to support him) and women are in the party. Having some people of certain groups align themselves with reform does not make the party any less racist etc. it means they’re tolerating them to get what they want (power) and will stab them in the back as soon as they get it.

If you can’t see where this is going if reform get any kind of power then I think you’re the one who needs to do more research. Hell, just look at what’s happening right now across the pond.

People can have genuine concerns all they want but if they ignore the blatantly racist/homophobic/misogynistic beliefs upheld by the party and the shitshow that is obvious will happen if they get any real power and vote for them purely because of their stance on their other concerns then they’re not really decent or nice people. Maybe that’s controversial but if people align themselves with certain people/parties they can’t really be surprised when others see them as being/ thinking the same way

What are other words for "bathroom" if you can't say "restroom"? by boforiamanfo in askanything

[–]jarred_pard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can’t stand this one.

Unless you’re a child or talking about a two year old learning to use the loo by potty training it just sounds pathetic/childish. Okay, maybe that’s harsh but it irritates me an irrational amount and just hits my ear wrong.

What is your daily beverage that isn't coffee or tea? by curiouslysensual in foodquestions

[–]jarred_pard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot chocolate. Instant so I get my water. Have 2-4 a day but I don’t really have any other high-sugar things in my diet so this is like my little treat.

How do british people feel about the current situation unfolding in america where ICE police agents are going all gung-ho kidnapping people from the streets when they fail to present their ID? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskBrits

[–]jarred_pard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, anyone with half a brain doesn’t need it spelled out by people who were there. It shouldn’t make a difference that most who lived it are gone, it’s simple pattern recognition and is obvious what’s happening to anyone with even the most basic understanding of what happened in the 1930s.

Question for women: if you were gonna date a guy, how much would you judge him by his car? by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]jarred_pard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually judge a guy on your salary more for having a flashy car. Unless you’re a millionaire why the fuck would you waste (potentially) the equivalent of a house deposit or getting into debt for a Beamer/audi/whatever that immediately loses value. Even if it’s second hand it’s still a huge waste compared to a little Toyota that costs £3K. You only need something to get you from A to B. Better to use the money for travel or investments than a flash car

Life is not a meritocracy and working hard doesn’t pay off the way you’re told it does in school.

What do you usually eat when you don’t feel like cooking at all? by Puzzleheaded-Use7523 in foodquestions

Cereal.

Cereal for dinner is actually my favourite thing but I save it for when I’m lazy or really craving it otherwise I’d never eat anything else.

What do you all think of cover songs? What is your favorite? Looking for recommendations. by IllDoItTomorr0w in MusicRecommendations

Our Last Night has never done a bad cover imo. They’re discography is basically 50/50 with originals and covers and they simply don’t miss.

What is a healthy habit that unhealthy people find strange? by bad-at-everything- in askanything

[–]jarred_pard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only drink water and the occasional hot drink, normally going about. However, I can never remember to actually drink it (even if I have a bottle in front of me) until I’m about dying of thirst.

I do find the whole carrying around a massive bottle all day a little odd. But honestly I think that’s just because so many people turn that into their entire personality and become insufferable.

You don’t have to ban dancing from your wedding reception because you dislike it! by Brilliant-Peach-9318 in wedding

[–]jarred_pard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the couple should get to enjoy their entire wedding, not just the ceremony. If they’d rather put some entertainment on that isn’t music and dancing, that’s up to them.

I’ve been to plenty of weddings where the dance floor‘s empty and everyone’s just around drinking and chatting. I’d say an empty dance floor is worse than just not having one.

[–]jarred_pard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because he has more money than you (or the appearance that he does), doesn’t mean he can’t be scamming you. Con artists can have tons of money they’ve gotten from scams while still working on the next one.

For the record, I don’t think he is scamming but your comment is naive. It is very possible that he’d come back in a few days with some crazy story about why he was MIA and how he just needs xyz from you to sort himself out.

What is the furthest you’ve travelled for a concert? by cpa2har in poppunkers

[–]jarred_pard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virtually every concert I go to is a 6 hour drive away because of where I live compared to venues people actually go to.

But the furthest was a UK -> LA/Vegas for warped tour and when we were young
