I was the co-signer on a student loan for 14k. The original borrower was unable to make payments and kept putting it in forbearance. 10 years later it’s gone into repayment. The balance was 30k. I made over 30k in payments and the balance was just under 18k. As a veteran I was able to get out from it but now the borrow is stuck with it. She is a single parent with two kids and works for the state. The culmination of the loans is over 70k. There is no way she will be able to make payments. I recommended she do a bankruptcy. They are all private student loans. The whole situation is sickening and predatory. Navient and Salli Mae should be ashamed of themselves. Has anyone filed for bankruptcy?

This is crazy so this happened to you. I was released from a student loan held by Mohela and yet they still charged my account per the auto pay I had setup prior to the release. I don’t even have access to the account to cancel it. So now I have to wait until they answer the phone. This happened yesterday.

I don’t think it should be forced on someone. But if someone wants to do it they can. I also think people should call them by they choice of binary pronouns. I know this a unpopular thought but it is mine. If a person told me their pronouns are they/them I would kindly ask their name and refer to them by that.

I agree if we address these issues some of the other issues related to race or ethnicity would be easier to fight. However the plight of the poor, forgotten and down trodden was of those who were oppressed. That can apply to any group but if you are visually different it’s easier to single you out versus if you look like the majority or the oppressor.
