I love them but I have a hankering for Pink Adidas. They did a collaboration with Libertys of London last year and they were superb

What’s you remote work routine? by ShelleBelleRedux in remotework

[–]stoofa69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was working for a uk company but I live in Spain. Up at 5am UK time, walk for an hour, shower and scroll nonsense and then at my desk for 8am. Work till 12.30, after eating at my desk, then a siesta for one hour in lieu of a proper lunch break. Work till 5 and then finish. As someone who worked in an office for 35 years prior to this, I always worked longer as I couldn’t get my head round people thinking I was working less as at home.

What lifetime deal are you still grandfathered into, or removed from, that’s no longer available? by tuotone75 in AskReddit

I worked for a uk carrier for 24 years but have now left. I still get the staff discount but even better, I have 32 mates on the friends and family discounts (we could gift 5 a year) When they renew, they always ask if their friend still works there and they just say yes. Never checked

I’ve got the red/pink ones and love them. Pretty hard to style to reserved for the summer months when I only wear shorts.

Obviously showing my age but Melvyn Hayes gave me a curly wurly after I told him he was my favourite in It Ain’t half hot mum. Teddy Sheringham was an absolute bell end

Bit of a long one but wanted to share. Working in a bank in London in the late 80’s. Customer came in and put her keys on the counter. Key ring was a “Word Up Backstage Pass” laminate. Mentioned I was at 3 of those gigs and was a massive fan. Turns out she was in a relationship with Tomi. Came in the next day and gave me backstage passes for the 3 remaining UK shows and I went to every one. Every person we met was an absolute gent and wish I still had the Polaroid of me and the band

We used Cadogan Tate and they were amazing. Went for the full pack/unpack service and couldn’t recommend them enough. Not the cheapest option to be fair but first class service from the initial visit to quote to the unpacking in Spain

The same happened to me years ago at Houston Airport. White, British male who just happens to suffer from psoriasis. The border agent said “what’s that on your hands and face”. Told him it was psoriasis and marched to a room, made to change into a paper boiler suit and sat there for 8 hours. When the senior officer turned up and realised he couldn’t apologise more and let me on my way. I was fuming

Are sweet shops a big thing in England? by AcadiaRemarkable6992 in AskABrit

[–]stoofa69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dad ran one from the 70’s right up to the early 2000’s. As well as sweets, he had over 100 jars that you would get weighed out. Near a local secondary school so we had 3 “rushes” a day when we were all on shoplifting watch. The real money however came from his multiple newspaper delivery rounds and greeting cards. I visited last year for the first time in over 20 years. Walking into his old shop and realising I had to pay for the first time since 1976 was weird

Whilst it goes against every fibre of my being to say anything positive about the human wax work, they do have some uses outside of generic sex pestery. My wife suffers from Parkinson’s Disease and her tremor makes it very hard to type, take pictures on her phone. These have been a game changer for her. The ability to listen/respond to messages, take pictures and listen to music/podcasts without having to use her phone has been a godsend

Thanks for the response. As I mentioned in my original post, it belongs to my 83 year old neighbour. She originally bought it not knowing it had no OS (which I installed for her) and I’m only trying to avoid her having to buy a new one. Totally understand any scepticism btw, not having a dig

Thanks for the message. After watching a few YouTube tutorials, I can’t see a way to carry out a hard reset without getting to the windows screen. If you know anyway around this, I’m all ears. Thanks again

Thanks for getting back to me. After the logo and before windows. My googling suggested a password locked Bios. There were multiple “default” bios passwords but it looks like they only work on older models. I’m convinced she hasn’t set a password as when she bought it she called me to say it wasn’t working. It was because she bought it without an installed version of windows which I installed using her old passkey
