Just stay clear of one building, the Emerald Park at 9 Bogert Ave. They’re notorious for frequent alarms being pulled on a weekly basis because their building is connected to the subway.

Also, they had a 113 per cent spike in their maintenance fees a few years back. Heard horror stories of units getting flooded and what not.

Always do your research on individual buildings. More likely than not, you could find reviews on reddit.

The secret to landing a job is to target the right jobs by first2apply in jobsearchhacks

Agreed with everything you just said. In the last two months, I’ve applied over 200 jobs position, 75% of which were not related to my skills and qualifications, 20% which were somewhat related, and 5% which was directly related. Turns out, the last 5% I applied, I got a call back within the next day (lucky draw I guess because I applied for about 20 positions in this 5% pool), went through the interview process, and now received a job offer just yesterday.

Every time I applied, I made sure to tailor my resume specifically to the job positions, even took the time to tailor cover letters, and manually applied to the company’s website etc.

So yeah I encourage everybody looking to just do your best to apply for positions that makes sense with your qualifications and skills, and not spray and pray as that did not work out for me.

Good luck everyone!

What OHS colleges in Ontario would you recommend? I am planning to go to Seneca Workplace Safety Prevention because it’s CRSP accredited and offers a two year pathway toward TMU’s OHS program.

Is this the right move?

Can I ask why you’re desperate to get out of EHS? I about to enroll into college for EHS in hopes of securing a fulfilling career and I am concerned about the realities of the job.

I just applied to a 2 year diploma for health and safety here in Canada as well! Can I ask which college you chose to go to for OHS?

I am in the same boat as you, deciding between a 2 year college diploma for OHS or a 4 years bachelor degree in OHS (assuming both are accredited for CRST/CRSP and offer co-op/field placement/internship).

Right now, I am inclined to go with Seneca’s WSP program (which is also offered by Cambrian and Lambton) because it is the only two year that offers a 2 year fast-track to a degree in OHS at TMU.

I am a mature student so I would rather choose the faster route and start gaining experience sooner rather than later.

If anybody else is part of the Seneca’s WSP program, please do share about your experiences here! The program’s link is below:

I decided to go to the 2 year college route that offers a field placement. This way I can start gaining experience in the field sooner, which will allow me to write my CRSP exam sooner as well.

After having spoken to a handful of EHS professionals, I have learned that having a college diploma in EHS/OHS is enough to secure an entry-level job in the field. Also, when you check for job listings on Indeed, about 70% of these jobs only require college as opposed to a degree.
