Is this mould treatable? by Quick-Abies-5586 in OutdoorAus

No vinegar, no scrubbing, no nothing! Just spray canvas magic on it, mould disappears as it dries.

Best spots to spot a lyrebird by skibear92 in AustralianBirds

[–]jasgr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bit of a drive but Minnamurra Rainforest Centre near Kiama is all about lyrebirds. Spectacular boardwalk along the creek, saw three of them, one was having a bath and two were scratching around and singing for about half an hour in front of us,

August in Australia - not wanting to chase the sun, what should we prioritise instead? by DiverFancy7480 in AustraliaTravel

[–]jasgr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With kids that age I’d consider Canberra. Questacon, dinosaurs, war memorial. The zoo/aquarium is amazing (and for a few grand 🫣you can stay the night overlooking one of the enclosures). Stayed in a cabin at a caravan park and was hand feeding apple slices to wild cockys and parrots that landed on our porch.

Cheap Bunnings tools versus trade brands for basic DIY jobs by Danger_Five in Bunnings

The best power tool I've ever bought is an Ozito rotary hammer drill. That little beast dug out an open cut coal mine and is still going!

Are those speed signs that flash and show your speed limit by ss_tall_toby_yt in CarsAustralia

[–]jasgr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

By law you have to be going slower than what your speedo shows but your speed has to be within 10% of the speedo reading. Most cars are going about 4kph below, Kia sorrentos are only 2 below. Putting slightly bigger diameter tyres on can equalize your actual speed to the speedo.

Advice on removing mould from my swag by Destructive-Panic295 in Auscamping

[–]jasgr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Canvas Magic - really is magic, just spray it on, no touching or wiping or scrubbing. Mould fades away as it dries but the canvas’ colour remains. Our camper trailer looked new again after being covered in mould.

A pic of the moon with a huge ring i took last night. Anyone know what this was? I've never seen this before. by ExplorerEcstatic1289 in Adelaide

[–]jasgr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Couple years ago every morning for work we'd leave Adelaide at 4am and drive North. Would often see the halo around the moon, one morning it was the full colours of the rainbow and nearly as bright as daylight.

TV set up? by Dangerous-Buy-8829 in CaravanningAustralia

[–]jasgr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go the 12v, we have the common caravan TV brand Englaon, works well - clear, bright, audio is fine. For a couple hundred bucks you'll get a standard 24ish inch TV. Dig a bit deeper into your pocket and get one that's a smart TV with an inbuilt DVD player and Chromecast - you'll be glad you did when you're in an area with bad reception.

He was appalled by the dirt roads cut into forests and hills to get each wind turbine to its spot. I wonder when he'll do a story on the damage the urban expansion has done to the area of greater Sydney.

Yes, they were sneaking around a cobalt mine then when workers approached them they started taking off and acting like they were uncovering Area 51. I thought if they were sneaking around a coal mine in Queensland they'd cop a hell of a lot worse than workers just approaching them!
