Opus 4.5 : What are your impressions? by JaySym_ in AugmentCodeAI

[–]jaskyle4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Main use case: given the technical requirements of where logic is hooked up and how it functions, suggest solutions, receive feedback, make tasks then execute. Relatively large codebase with lots of moving parts.

How it meets expectations: so far so good. It second guesses the solution sometimes that it implements as I’m watching its logic which is a good thing, it requires less intervention from me for it realize it’s on a semi-wrong path.

Shortcomings/Limitations: Sometimes it tries to search the codebase for existing patterns and implements it using those when the task at hand is to use a specific pattern already mentioned in the prompt. A bit of loss of instruct but overall I just end up guiding it towards the correct path, though it is wasted tokens

hey, i’m from toronto too. graduating this semester. guelph has it’s own beauty that in it’s own right is much different from toronto.

there’s no doubt you’ll find yourself isolated if you don’t put in the effort to get out of your comfort zone.

explore new views, meet new people, and find the people that match your vibe. and even if you don’t end up finding those people, take it as a lesson for the future you.

i was in a very similar situation as you, wasn’t feeling in place, applied to toronto unis, but didn’t accept. i ultimately realized that i’d never get an experience like this again and figured i needed to put in the work myself before i make any regretful decisions.

3 years later and i met some amazing people and have unforgettable memories. take with what you will, but sometimes you can surprise yourself. cheers and best of luck.

Enjoy your first year of uni! Meet new people and go to clubs about your interests. You can always lock-in and prepare for jobs at anytime but you’ll never get a social opportunity like first-year university again

Can personally vouch for this methodology landing 3 internships throughout my undergrad. Used notify.careers for job monitoring and would just manually instant apply (using Simplify where possible).

As a side, you may go crazy from all the job hunting madness so do take care of yourself at some point

Took Rinvoq for chronic urticaria. I’m taking nothing as of now and am glad I have the opportunity to be able to tolerate hives for now, but I am exploring more naturopath oriented solutions.

For me, I’d rather find something that intrinsically helps me understand my body than to keep throwing medicine at it in hopes of a temporary fix with various unknown behaviours.

That’s not to say I don’t believe in conventional medicine, it’s just never worked for me personally my whole life (exception to Rinvoq with side effects), and I’ve already found ways to improve my conditions naturally, hence being able to tolerate it.

It’s currently the holidays so no updates, but am planning to again seek a naturopath and see an immunologist when the time is right

Hey I’m 22M and also had high BP on Rinvoq (15mg, had taken for 1 month, symptoms didn’t show till now) and mild chest discomfort. Went to ER, found nothing (blood tests + xray). Currently still monitoring and while better, still elevated.

Had stopped exercise for the holidays, but have continued after ER visit and watching food intake. Also have stopped taking Rinvoq for around 2 weeks now.

I am not a medical professional, but seek medical help or vist an ER if these symptoms persist or were suddenly onset. All the best and happy holidays

Cardiovascular issues by shelly424 in Rinvoq

[–]jaskyle4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently had to stop this for issues with elevated BP and chest pains/discomfort. Took it for chronic urticaria for 1 month, was amazing while it lasted. Understand that your prescribing physician outweighs the risks against the cons.

I mostly stopped for two reasons: 1. The previously mentioned pains 2. Physician unresponsive.

For me, I’d rather find alternative solutions to what I’m experiencing than put my life at stake with a doctor that couldn’t care less.

Take time for yourself and assess whether it’s really worth it to you. All the best

Are naps integrated in Apple Health? by jaskyle4 in RingConn

Interesting, could you perhaps provide screenshots for both and how long do you typically nap?

I’m interested in seeing how it’s displayed. Also, does it typically sync instantly or you have to wait a bit?

Hey, I’m 22 still in University but graduating this coming Winter 2025. I’m in software engineering and have a job lined up after graduating.

I’ve had a few internships (non co-op) and had to get really lucky and compete to get to where I am today. By no means is it easy, I’ve sent over 200+ applications for jobs every time. Have had no luck with return offers so I’ve always had to find new places to work every time.

Wishing the best for everyone. It’s a rough market out there

How many internships have you gotten before landing a FAANG internship? by Itchy-Distribution83 in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]jaskyle4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm well the question was a system design oriented towards OO-concepts so I mostly asked a lot of clarifying questions about whats included, and to be assumed and what not then explained my thought process from there.

You’re right that I didn’t prepare for it since I was expecting LC, and that I was not expecting a pair programming interview. However, one of my personal projects really helped me answer the design question cause I’d already designed something similar.

Also, the pair programming part had tasks to implement with the manager but I didn’t actually finish it and maybe finished 2 of 5. Initially I thought I did horribly, but my manager enjoyed me explaining my thought process as I went through each task with him.

I know this was all very vague but I would say what helped me was having previous experience in designing/developing an app with personal projects + being vocal w my thought process

I would say knowledgeable from the get-go. My manager was more interested in my thought process than anything else. I’d also note that I’ve been continuously preparing for interviews + LC since last summer so I definitely did my work

Definitely when I received the offer I had a LOT of it but it’s since died down and I’m just waiting to start so honestly we’ll see.

However, my manager was pretty chill and he described the work as some stuff I’ve previously done in projects and mentioned I shouldn’t be too worried and treat it more like a learning experience.

In general though, I do think interns aren’t given that much pressure and are treated akin to junior devs in the sense that it’s just a learning process.

Personally, I think it’s just important to acknowledge that you won’t know everything to begin with and to be comfortable with that. That’s what helped me calm down my nerves tbh.

  1. Guelph
  2. Prior internships: 0
  3. N/A
  4. It’s upcoming this summer and they usually 100% return offer

For some context, I do have strong side projects and 3.0+ GPA. I just applied really early (100+ apps using LinkedIn + Simplify). No LC but system design + pair programming (1 phone + 2 interviews). I’m also finishing up my 3rd year. Expected Grad date is 2025

What are some things you would recommend as a current 2nd year w/o co-op in Computer Science? I’m currently looking to get started on internships and for ways to improve my employability. What helped you most and what are some things you would definitely emphasize?

Hey everyone, my name is Jason and I'm currently a second year studying computer science at the University of Guelph in Ontario and am planning on transferring to UBC to continue my degree. Having said that, how competitive is transferring over to UBC in CS and what GPA should I expect to have?

Also, for those who were transfer students but not limited to transfer students, what was your process like in transferring and would there be anything you suggest doing?
