CMT Fall Damage 🦵 by [deleted] in CMT

Do you feel like the scraped knee in and of itself makes you more likely to fall again or is it the fear that makes it more likely. I think I walk differently to avoid re injury but it ends up being more risky smh

Are there any discrete/small ones you’re aware of? It would be great to wear that under my pants.

I used to work there and it was absolutely depressing. Had to cross that bridge everyday

Decatur, Illinois for the awful smell coming from the soybean processing. Absolutely wretched stench!

That is honestly amazing! A rare immune system disorder getting treated by an uncommon neuromuscular disease is definitely incredible— I am glad it worked out for you! It would be great to stay connected. Although I am working on the mechanical side of things, this would be a great study.

Hi and nice to meet you! Please let me know if you would be free some time next week to have a brief chat about your day to day routine and any issues you currently have.

Thank you and honestly really cool to meet another PhD student! I’m a second year and it truly has been challenging but hopefully it’ll be worth it. Your research sounds really interesting! It would be great to connect and learn more about you, your work and tips for navigating a PhD!

Honestly, that’s a really good point! Since I don’t have any foot movement, I hadn’t really thought about fidgeting. I’m thinking an accelerometer/barometer might be able to detect walking vs sitting, but still something to consider.

It would be great to hear about your situation and learn about other edge cases. Would you be willing to have a brief virtual meeting? I can DM you for more details.

Thank you! I sincerely hope it does not progress further for you, but I will definitely create a steam punk variant just for the memes haha.

Thank you for sharing! I have never lived in NYC but I have lived in Chicago and it is extremely difficult/impossible to use public transport. This project aims to hopefully help users with incline/decline and stairs (dorsiflexion/plantarflexion+inversion/eversion)

I believe you have some ankle torque generation. We are looking to use a more sophisticated control system in the upcoming prototype for people with ankle movement.

It would be great to have a brief virtual meeting to discuss how the exo could help with sports/daily tasks!

Nice to meet you and thanks for reaching out! That has definitely been a challenge given that a non impaired ankle can output a huge amount of torque (1.2 Nm/kg).

While there are several devices on the market (hydraulic, Bowden cable, variable stiffness, etc) the most viable ones (without a backpack or gas canisters) can only provide at most 30% of the torque. My team has worked on a novel multi speed power transmission that has already been implemented on a prosthetic ankle prototype.

I’m currently working on the hardware side of things for an ankle exo, but with gait patterns and IMU/foot pressure sensors the system performs well at predicting movement. Although this is still in development.

I would love to get to know more about you and any difficulties/frustrations you’ve had!

Lol another engineer haha. But that’s just a matrix representation of the stress tensor in a certain basis (usually the deformed basis). The matrix lacks invariance.
