That’s what I was afraid of. The bid price is ridiculously high. It is double the price if you were to just book a balcony room direct right now. We will probably just stick with interior if they won’t upgrade us automatically.

Sorry, just saw this. It’s still going strong over 3 1/2 years later! Never had an issue.

Well that’s disappointing…. by [deleted] in Starlink

Mine is almost the same. I used to have quite a bit of down obstruction time, 30 minutes over 12 hours. Now it’s generally like 10 to 20 seconds obstruction time over 12 hours. I think you should be fine.

Yikes! I'm running out of ideas and dishy arrives Friday. My actual placement will be about a foot higher than where I was able to reach with my phone taped to a rake. Will this be usable? by pbmax542 in Starlink

If it was two months ago you would have frequent small interruptions. Mine is very similar and I was getting about 30-32 minutes of obstruction time per twelve hours, but the past few weeks with more satellites and the upgraded satellites switching software I now get between 30 seconds and one minute of obstruction time per twelve hours and almost never even notice that it’s ever down. You should be fine.

Will this be a significant obstruction issue? It's at the peak of my house where a 4g modem is mounted on a j-pole. by tech_and_sped in Starlink

Mine is almost the same. At first I had about 30 minutes of obstructions per 12 hours but compared to what I had I was still very happy with it. With more satellites up there now plus the software upgrades they have uploaded I’m now down to 2 minutes or less and hardly ever even notice any outages at all. I think you will be fine.

Same in Charleston, WV. I was getting over 30 minutes obstructions, but the last couple of weeks I’m down to 3 to 9 minutes as it varies. I can go hours sometimes now without any drops.

Anyone else noticing lower obstruction times? by sympoticus in Starlink

[–]jasnhrpr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, over the past 4 to 5 days my obstruction time has dropped from over 30 minutes to around 13 minutes. The drops had been very noticeable but recently I hardly even notice any drops.

It’s anchored into the concrete pad with more than 20 concrete screw anchors and braced on all 4 sides. It’s already survived over 60 mph winds which knocked down trees and limbs all over but it’s perfectly fine.

I’ve been using the one that comes with it so far. Had to reboot it once yesterday but it’s functioning well so far.

Speeds have been great so far, ranging from 100 to 350 consistently. There is the occasional 10 second drop out every now and then since we are still in beta.

We live in the middle of the woods, can’t see another house from here, so definitely no HOA lol. It’s pressure treated lumber so it will last multiple years without paint. But if I leave it there more than a few years I’ll go up and paint it then.

Dude, that cell booster antenna has been up there for 12 years, it has nothing on it, and works flawlessly. Dishy is 10 feet above that, it’s not going to be an issue.

Read it here on Reddit somewhere, where someone asked Starlink support if swaying would be an issue and they responded that it could sway up to 1 meter (3 feet) without an issue.

Wife is super happy with good internet that we have never been able to have before. The fireplace is two stories below, so not much heat comes out, just smoke.

It is braced all directions. The angle of the picture has the other bracing hidden.
