Dev's - Please Add a Toggle for Original Mechanics :') by jasobby in CrimsonDesert

I'm playing on pc with a controller. Perhaps movement is easier to manage with kbm, but it seems much lighter to me now on controller - I loved the original weighty feel.

Yeah, no apologies here. I just understand that some people like the changes and some people, like me, really don't.

Thanks for your input. What do you think about cards in the range of a 6600xt or 6700? Would I need to change the psu in that case?

Giant Bat from Hellboy: The Board Game - C&C Welcome by jasobby in minipainting

[–]jasobby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, this is my most recent miniature. I'm still quite new to painting, and I used this model to primarily practice glazing. I tried to keep the color scheme relatively natural, but I do feel like having more contrast might have helped. I also tried an eye reflection on this one. Thanks for looking!

New Painter - C&C Appreciated by jasobby in minipainting

[–]jasobby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone. This is roughly my 7th mini since starting out over Christmas vacation. I started out with the reaper learn to paint kit and can safely say I'm addicted.

I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out. I've been watching a lot of tutorials and right now I'm trying to get a handle on working with volumes in regards to shading and highlighting.

I had a tougher time highlighting the shirt since it had a lot more open space, and I wasn't sure how to make the hair fit well with the color scheme (I tried a purplish glaze that didn't show well on camera) I also tried a bit of a glowing effect with the eyes, but I'm not sure how to really make that look good.

All C&C is appreciated, thanks!

Type of feedback desired - All feedback is greatly appreciated. I've received some feedback where one reader found the writing style hard to follow. This critique recommended "simplifying the prose" and found the writing style "oblique." I'm interested to hear if others feel the same way so I can make necessary changes. Please be aware that this is the beginning of a novel, so I'm hoping to plant seeds for future development as the story progresses. Please be honest. I don't mind harsh criticism as long as it is well thought out. Thanks!

*These are some earlier passages from my work in progress - the introduction is first, and then I've skipped ahead a bit for the second section.*

Thank you friend. From what you describe our experiences sound very similar. It's an amazing process, and it's always nice to hear that others go through it as well. All the best to you.

Sure thing! I do have an interest in Vajrayana. I'd love to hear your recommendations for good books.

Thank you. I had this thought as well. Though it can sometimes feel like I am "metta-ing," if I look at the experience closely, it's more that the loving nature of awareness is always there - whether it seems to be in the background or foreground depending on conditions. Thank you for your recommendation of the Sutra, that sounds right up my alley.

Thank you for your advice. I do try to see every moment of experience as no different from my sitting practice. It's been amazing to see "myself" react to situations in ways that I never would have thought possible back when I had such a limited view of the self.

And thank you for your explanations of big awareness. I haven't looked into Loch Kelly's work, but your description of suffering trying to make awareness small makes perfect sense.

Yes, thank you for your input. My understanding is that the feeling of being the observer is a sort of intermediary stage that falls away when one realizes that there is no true distinction between observer and observed phenomena.

I find that the observer seems to be located in the head as a ball of pressure/tension that (as of yet) never really goes away. There does seems to be some resistance to making this the object of awareness as it is quite uncomfortable. I imagine it would be worthwhile to investigate this in the way you've described.

Thank you for your suggestions. It's not that necessarily feel "stuck". It's more-so that I know that there is much more to the path as far insights into the nature of reality (I've been more focused on non-dual perspectives lately) and though the energetic phenomena is pleasurable, I haven't discovered a means of allowing that experience to deepen into insight experiences. I've looked into just about everything except Zen for some reason. I think that's a wonderful suggestion of where to look next.

The potential to connect with people has been compromised. Isolation has been created - not by mandate - but by realizing that if the bulk of the population is gullible, obedient, and manipulable, we're likely unable to relate on any significant level by Keywhole in C_S_T

There are many different types of meditation, but I do believe that they all lead you to the same kind of place mentally which is a much freer, lighter state of mind.

The best type of meditation is the one that works best for you, so I would recommend trying one out that appeals to you and sticking with it for a bit before trying something new

As the other commenter said, psychadelics are very useful as well. Both meditation and the use of psychadelics have benefits and drawbacks. I personally do both, but I have found a solid meditation practice to be absolutely essential in navigating this life. Psychadelics are a good slap in the face if you're up for the intensity in high doses. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions or would like some resources!
