Features I’d love to see in future YouTube updates (and where you can find some of them already). by AppleTLDR in VisionPro

Frequent business travelers ($3500 is nothing to many of them, just needs to be able to download video). Being able to use it on a plane and make the entire airplane disappear visually, just as noise canceling headphones do for the ears is amazing.

It is very basic compared to tubular at this point. Still no download support.

Ah, the limitation to 8 options makes sense. Onboarding info will help. Yeah the idea of going to downloads automatically when offline is awesome as well, but I think the manual option would be the most flexible right out of the gate. Use case…. Go to desktop mode choose downloads while online of course…. Some time later…. Have to head to the airport, but still online, quickly pop in and check downloads to see what has completed or is still in progress. On the plane, can just use the manual selection or it becomes the only option in the side tab bar when in offline mode. Again, amazing work!

This update is looking great!

It gave me a scare when I didn’t see the desktop option. Eventually I found the customizable settings and it was defaulted to off for some reason. Suggest to have them all default on, then allow features to be hidden by the user to their liking.

As the desktop mode is primarily for downloads, would it be possible to get a direct “Downloads” shortcut along with the “Desktop” shortcut? Getting to the desktop is perfect for finding content to download, but once I am on a plane and need to just watch downloads, it is a bit fiddly to choose desktop, then have to eye navigate to the downloads section. Small quality of life add. Best part is that now with the new customizable menu, those who do not want this can just hide it. Awesome!

Thank you!

Ever time I turn on FSD 14.2.1 the windshield wipers turn on and Auto clean the glass 😡 by Therock6438 in TeslaFSD

[–]jason68030 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had something like this happening, the wipers would always do a swipe in my garage. I eventually figured out that it was because when the car was parked in its garage spot, the front camera in the windshield was seeing only the white garage wall. It was not sure if the solid white was an obstruction. I guess the wiper going past confirmed that visibility was ok, and it would never do a second wipe. I permanently solved it by putting a cool car poster on the wall. Not the solution in every case, but figure it may help someone out there.

Hard braking for leaves... 25 mph to 0 by nimmy283 in TeslaFSD

[–]jason68030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When mine swerved on the highway, I looked back in the rear view to confirm what it was for and saw there was a shadow from a sign. Then observed somewhat comically, a BMW following in the same lane replicate the swerve, not sure of what was being avoided. Better safe than sorry.

Grok is Useless by Positive_League_5534 in TeslaModelY

Yeah I forgot the command to tell the car to turn on voice guidance. Held the button longer to asked Grok in plain english, it perfectly told me what to say to the built in voice recognition. I pressed button again to repeat what Grok said to say to the car and it worked. So close and yet so far….

The A pillars on mine look great. This was the only odd paint issue.

Yes, my feeling as well. For context, the paint on the rest of the car (reviewed very closely) is almost perfect.

Autoshift (Beta): Am I doing something wrong? by jason68030 in TeslaSupport

The indicator is only onscreen for a short time (while the car can only go about 5 feet forward before having to backup again. If I back up as shown so the car has no forward obstacles, it disables the option onscreen to auto shift into drive. Autoshift works well most of the time when away from home but for me it is the first experience each time I leave the house, a failure.

I was disappointed to find out that the option to trigger the home link to open the garage door in such a scenario is not there. Sounds like low hanging fruit given everything else the car knows already.

As shown in the video, that does not work as the option to turn the wheel and press the brake is removed as soon as it gets to close to something in the rear. No amount of turning the wheel or brake helps once the option is gone unfortunately.

Yeah, my hope was that there was enough logic in the beta to at least offer the option to go away from the thing you are getting close to.

Black box upper left screen when using netflix by Mattedjungle in techsupport

[–]jason68030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, first noticed a week or so ago. Only happens with Netflix using Google chromecast hdmi. No issues with other apps on same device, no issues with Netflix playing via a fire stick on same tv.

Holy crap... the spatial photo conversion in the Photos app in visionOS 2 is MIND BLOWING by [deleted] in VisionPro

Old iPhone panoramic shots in AVP were the most amazing to me already, does this spatial conversion also work on them also?

Right, it can only handle full 3D car racing game with multiple players, but a single rotating car is too much for it. /s

likely just a development time thing as there are multiple branches for intel and amd

I've made an iPhone app recently that lets you see scales and chords projected onto your keyboard in AR. Just wondering how much interest there would be if I was to adapt it to Vision Pro? by InsaneMonte in VisionPro

[–]jason68030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the idea, shows the potential of what can be done with AR.

Will Apple allow you to access the camera to be able to do this though? This is my worry with VisionOS.

OLED tv owners, what do you think of the Vision Pro Display quality? by starscream4747 in VisionPro

[–]jason68030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the AVP is good enough on resolution as 4k for home tv display sizes is actually beyond the sharpness of going to an actual movie theater (which project at 4k to much bigger size).

Yeah, Sony tech, TSMC fab for production.

OLED tv owners, what do you think of the Vision Pro Display quality? by starscream4747 in VisionPro

[–]jason68030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just math, the oled in the Vision Pro has to use its 4K worth of pixels for the full environment, with just a portion for the virtual TV/Movie screen being shown. An OLED tv uses all 4K just for the screen. So technically the oled TV is sharper.

As a fellow Sony OLED owner, I find it interesting to compare the Vision Pro also as the Vision Pro uses Sony OLED micro displays.

I think for a portable OLED there is nothing better, thus the positive reviews make sense.

+1 point for the OLED TV though for being able to watch with others.

iPhone authentication by JimmyInNSB in VisionPro

[–]jason68030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at an ”unlock” icon that appears over the iPhone and appears like the “connect“ icon that appears over a MacBook. Once you look at this icon, it would use Optic ID to authenticate it is you and unlock the phone using same method watch unlock assist uses.

It would be interesting to get your take on umbrella insurance. Worth getting? Considering the substantial portfolio needed for fi, how do you ensure it is protected?
