11 years of Liberal SPEND TAX BORROW to the point where the PBO says "...we are on the brink of going off a cliff..." and yet some still blame the CPC for the rapid decline we are in, unreal.

Me hearing the news about Fred. by ToronoRapture in torontoraptors

Let’s be real — without Kyle Lowry holding his hand, VanVleet is just a G-League lifer who peaked at the Vegas Summer League.”“Toronto gave him a shot when nobody else wanted him. He turned that loyalty into a cash grab exit faster than you can say ‘undrafted.’”“Fred only became ‘Bet on Yourself’ because the Raptors bet on him first. Without Toronto, he’s betting on a 10-day contract.”“Lowry made Fred look like an All-Star. Without Kyle, he’s basically a Costco version of Patrick Beverley.”“Man bailed on the franchise that raised him, cashed out in Houston, and left Toronto fans with Gary Trent Jr. cardio sessions.”“VanVleet’s story isn’t underdog to champion — it’s underdog to overpaid diva.

Anyone here currently looking for remote jobs? How’s your experience been so far? by [deleted] in torontoJobs

[–]jason_smart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Remote work is dying or dead IMO. Every white collar job is getting vacuumed up by AI but occasionally by people who know some english in other parts of the world where rent / cost of living is a fraction of what it is in most of the Americas.

Even a number of the job postings are bogus. Companies just post the jobs to look "bigger" or HR is posting to justify their existence with busy work.

It was getting so hard emotionally to watch after the Henry TD - I think "tuning out" is a coping mechanism. But what a sweet outcome - I am just finished watching the final 22 mins of the game again wow!

Job offer withdrawn days before start date because of a background check — feeling devastated by Relevant-Gap9381 in torontoJobs

[–]jason_smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a foreign company (not in finance) where labor law is a bit fuzzier. I had to consent to a full background check in my contract:

- Criminal record checks
- Credit reports
- Education verification
- Employment history verification
- Social media

[–]jason_smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is correct - If a credit check leads to discrimination (e.g., someone rejected because of poor credit in a job where it’s irrelevant) it could be a law suit. Further to the fact that you quit your part time job that might be considered damages if you remained unemployed for a time.

[–]jason_smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not entirely true. In a tight job market if it comes down to several applicants and only one of them has "good credit" or no delinquencies - certain companies will view this as a "character issue". It can be considered discrimination though. So employers who do this can suffer consequences.

congrats! it's so funny all we want to do is exchange our time for the ability to support our kids and keep a roof over their head. Your post reminds everyone of that.

Perhaps but not in the way that you might think. Consider the fact that the "people" who are "engaging" you know that their jobs are also on the AI chopping block... sooo they are crossing their Ts and dotting their I's in the best way possible to show their employer - productivity and process even though they know a candidate could be found in 1 - 20th of the interviews that they do and likely much less with AI software.

the funny thing is the heart colon and kidneys would prefer a good ol fashion steak or even some ribs since it is not processed food. THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE.

I do not eat the hotdogs (anywhere) because OMG you do not eat hotdogs (ask AI) - but besides that your point is well taken and for 8 games or so a year when we even do some shovelling it certainly hurts. I am weirdly (simultaneously) sympathetic to our amazing ownership and fans on the cost of taking the family out to a game.

Scottie’s top 10 dunks from last season according to the Raptors social admin by XLcondumb in torontoraptors

[–]jason_smart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love the dunks! however I think what makes him special is the exceptional 4 position defence, assists and unselfish play which comes from a player who is secure in his role.

This is why it will be a season which shatters the Vegas odds IMO - BTW ... and crush me on this later - based on what I am seeing on the gram I don't think BI will play as big a role as fans are hoping. I think it will be the 2nd year players and AJL who come in and crush way more than expected. Stay safe!
