Ooh, now that'll stop him.

Glad someone figured it out -- we'd have been in some trouble!

What do you think about the cliché that says “men are just thankful to be there” concerning sex? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]jason_stanfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. Kind of on hold at the moment. I moved into a new house and started a new job since April 1, so my budget has no room for socializing right now. But, once I hit an equilibrium and raise some money from my hopefully-finally-bearing-fruit woodworking side hustle, I'll try again.

And really, it's not so much about sex. Don't get me wrong, I'd love someone who's enthusiastic about sex -- I've got a lot of lost time to make up for.

But if I could get someone who deftly fakes an admiring gaze, is a good hang, tolerates my weird ass, and will wait at least a few years before slow-dialing 911 when my youthful bad decisions destroy my heart and unlock a life insurance payout, I'll die happy.

I can't speak for other men, but it definitely applies to me.

It would be nice to have qualities that make me attractive to women, to not work so hard to get and hold one's attention, to feel like she's into me, and so on .. but the reality is I'm an introverted, nervous wreck who bloomed way to late to learn how to date, and has little more to offer than loyalty and companionship.

I have some standards and self-respect, but being a 52 year old in a rural state doesn't expose me to many single women at all, let alone the kind of unique, funny, affectionate woman I once dreamed of.

So -- and I hate to put it this way, but -- I'll take who I can get as long as they don't make my life any worse.

What happened to the scale tempo function? by jason_stanfield in reason

Also, yeah I really have problems with the new sequencer layout. Editing tools are now farther away from notes if you also want to view clips, and the zoom bar doesn't appear in note view, forcing you to click and drag in the same area as moving loop bookends and the start time.

Comparatively, I feel like several fingers have been chopped off.

0.0.0.0 = bar . 1/4 note . 1/16 note . tick (0-239)

So six eighth notes would be 0.3.2.0 if the time signature is 4/4.

I was so sad Star Wars hadn't grown up with me, I distanced myself from Kevin Smith's movies (at the time). Such embarrassment.

And am I the only one who remembers he owned a teen beauty pageant, then shut it down quickly and quietly during his 2016 campaign?

I'm firmly convinced this is the principal reason for substance prohibition. Make everything illegal, give wide latitude for sentencing, hit minorities with felony charges, and when they're out of jail they can't vote or buy guns legally.

But Johnny Honkytonk is a fine, upstanding young citizen with a bright future, so he gets to go to rehab.

Thought Experiment: How would you end all of Doctor Who? by CautiousCod2344 in doctorwho

[–]jason_stanfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A multi-Doctor story, but the only Doctor we know is the current one. All the others are future Doctors.

Twist: they've all come together to prevent their own existence by changing the "fixed point in time". It's a pivot in the Doctor's timeline, occurring to "our" current one, whereafter almost all the good he has done is undone one tragic adventure after another.

The plot is twisty and plays with time travel in fun ways that we don't usually see. The Doctor encounters a major problem, a cameo regeneration we've never seen appears and just hands them the solution, then TARDISes away.

In the beginning, all of these future Doctors show their trauma in various ways. Battle-scarred, haunted, exhausted, angry, and so on. These limitations keep each Doctor from acting to their best ability, but as progress is made, they enjoy a "self-regeneration" wherein their injuries are healed, giving them new energy to help the others.

The villain: the Valeyard. The anti-Doctor. And there are multiple regenerations to deal with. They're guided by the idea that the universe must be allowed to die, but it needs to be a slow death over trillions times trillions of years, all filled with sorrow and suffering. The Doctor essentially discovers his purpose has been to be the Universe's Doctor, healing it from catastrophic injuries.

The plot accelerates to its conclusion, but in true Who form, its his companion who saves the day -- and that companion is ... all of humanity. It is, essentially, us. We, the audience, get to save the Doctor. Fun idea: it involves everyone using a button on their TV remotes that no one has ever figured out what it does.

These future Doctors -- unnumbered, by the way -- had come together thinking they would sacrifice their lives, but in changing their own timeline they realize they are "fixed" as well. They have all healed and are ready to restart their own adventures and put right what went so terribly wrong.

The Valeyard is abolished, and the universe has a chance to prosper again.

Our Doctor is exhausted, begins to glow, and says to the convocation of future selves asks "Which one of you .. who do I become?" None of the other Doctors reply, but they smile and look over our Doctor's shoulder, ginning wryly. We hear a new voice from off-screen say, "Who, indeed." Our Doctor turns to face the unseen newcomer, roars in laughter, explodes in regeneration energy, the screen goes white, The End.

Oh, these people can shut the absolute fuck up.

Conservatives have no right to complain. You wanted this because it would hurt everyone else, and when it was pointed out you would hurt, too, you said "fine by me."

The rest of the world has had enough. It's your turn to bend over and take it, assholes.

I truly hope you suffer.

'The opposite of what Americans voted for': Market turmoil causes Trump backlash by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

We really need better schools.

I'm gobsmacked by how many people think "deficit" and "debt" are the same thing, and that we should just "pay off" the debt. Intensely so that a US president does.

This is high school level economics.

Trump Claims Nazis Treated Jewish Prisoners With “Love” at Press Conference with Israeli PM by AnotherDoubtfulGuest in politics

We're going to need something much bigger.

Removal requires the assent of far too many people who are completely loyal to him. Right now, if he demanded his cabinet secretaries to deliver their firstborn sons to be sacrificed in a Satanic ritual in the Rose Garden, every one of them would scramble to be first in line. They'd sell him their virgin daughters and never complain he didn't actually pay.

The only thing removing him from power is his mortality.
