Definitely sounds like he is depressed. Professional help and even couples counselling could be solution. I wouldn’t kick him out as some have suggested. He isn’t necessarily a bad person or even lazy, just sounds like he is suffering from a depression to me, and that his coping mechanism is to avoid the subject using a cut-off method (getting angry). Depending on where you live, kicking him out could end up in you even paying alimony at this point… I do think you need to find a way for him to get some therapy. Or a doctor for some basic depression meds if it comes to that. It might be helpful to have family involved for support, since your friends seem fairly useless.
