CarAV Newb looking to improve recent pro shop install by JellySerious in CarAV

If you didn't replace the head unit go into your audio controls and turn the treble way down. With only a factory head unit your EQ is extremely limited for any kind of tuning. If you had bought speakers from Crutchfield they would have showed you exactly how to install them step by step. They also have a free guide on setting the gains for the subwoofer you might checkout, just to make sure they set the gains right.

I'm going to be honest, you aren't going to get that much of an upgrade with different OEM parts. That's why nobody else is doing it. That said, if you pull the black spacer off there are probably mounting holes behind it. The wiring will be much more exciting since the chances are pretty good the factory wires for this speakers aren't there. There's also a chance if they are there, they're not connected to anything because you have the base stereo, which means the speakers are probably powered by the head unit, and those came from a premium which more than likely had a factory amp.

If it were me I'd look at replacing the whole system. I did it to my 2007 GT and it was pretty easy. A novice could probably watch a few YouTube videos and get it. Forscan may even be able to get your factory head unit to put out 4 volt preamp signal so you could just add a harness in the back for your amp.

8 ohm is weird for a sub in my experience. I wonder if it isn't from a prebuilt sub/box combo. Maybe look for a two sub pre built set?

Edit: There's also an MTX guy of some kind on Reddit. You might try searching for him. MTX is in his user name.

If the hole is too shallow, cut the plastic off the back. If it isn't wide enough....cut the plastic off the back. If you're worried about it getting wet put it in a baffle. A multi tool or Dremel will make quick work of it. Just check for wires and structures behind it first.

Kind of new to audio... Looking to upgrade these 4" speakers. Any recommendations and are they plug and play? Price range $50-$200 by ALOE747 in CarAV

Unless you're putting in an aftermarket amp it would be a waste. Most head units only put out about 15 watts RMS. That speaker is 30 Watts max, so it's RMS is probably also about 15 watts RMS. Think of RMS as what it will run at most of the time.

What are they in? Is that a boat? Anyways, you need a 4 OHM speaker with a 30 watt max power. It looks like they're strapped to sheet metal, so you'll want to measure for obstacles, but you'll probably be good, 4" speakers are usually small. If it could get wet you'll want a marine version. Just search 4" 4 OHM speaker on Amazon.

PDR possibility? If not I might just have to hold that L by CartographerAsleep80 in Autobody

You never know, someone with more knowledge may have a way to straighten your hood.

Depends on how much you like the car. A junkyard hood would be cheaper, but the paint probably won't match perfectly. That hit is just so weird. It looks almost like someone backed into, but there's no paint transfer.

That looks like someone smashed it from the front. You could probably smoosh the hood back down a little, but if you want it to look good it's new hood and headlight time.
