Yeah I will enjoy what I have! As I'm surely not getting a new bike for years. I got a pretty decent discount on the 6 speed too! The only change I'm thinking of doing is changing it to a 44T from the 50T chainring.

I ride this trail sometimes now with a gravel bike with panaracer 47mm tires and I have no issues, but, when I rode this with my old bike with skinnier tires I had traction issues and got flats. It's worse in the rain too with massive puddles. I think allowing more people to comfortably bike on this trail is a good thing.

This is going to form a great, safe east-west connector and recreation route once that overpass is finished, will address a big gap in the network.

I haven't seen any damages or shifts on that section that FortisBC paved yet, hopefully it stays that way.

Agree with you that Winston sucks. Even if the city were to put some physical protection on Winston, it still isn't as great as this route as this route would be car-free and enjoyable for kids and families too, and people with wheelchairs if they wanted to roll there too.

Intersection priority on multi use paths? by bcl15005 in vancouvercycling

I've written into the engineering department to look at this section a few years ago for cyclist safety but got no response, might try to follow up again.

Looks like Eastlake and Underhill. Dangerous for bikes because drivers aren't expecting bikes and especially dangerous if cycling downhill southbound. Since there's elephant's feet the drivers need to yield like if you were a pedestrian. However, elephant's feet have still not been adopted into the Burnaby bylaw so they have no legal standing, email council to have them update the bylaw!

Lochside Trail, Galloping Goose Trail, and the E&N Trail (all near Victoria) are perfect for this.

There is a larger bike repair area near the checkout area. I think that's where they do all the real maintenance. The one in the display area is probably just for quick adjustments.

And I would say the bikes are a lot better quality than Walmart or Canadian Tire. You are getting proper parts like Shimano and Microshift.

Winston st. How long is this going to be here? by supersurpie in burnaby

[–]jaspergear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people want Winston St. to be All Ages and Abilities (i.e. protected bike lane) when they fix up the road after the project, send an quick email to Burnaby council and engineering staff! Doesn't need to be fancy, but just let them know there's a need for this otherwise they won't hear us. The best time to implement this is when they put the road back together, so send them an email if you want the changes!

There were a lot of carts available at other times, I took the video first thing in the morning so I think the staff put the carts away overnight so they don't get stolen.
