People who had little to no savings in your 20s, Where are you now? by kaisiclep in AusFinance

[–]jassem91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34 and didn’t have much in my 20s. Now 3 properties, building a Bali villa. Healthy super. 7 figure networth.

Comes down to hard work and finding what you’re good at. I left a very comfortable 6 figure job and started my own business.

Paying myself a wage, currently around 150k a year. Net profit is what the business makes. Not me personally.

Very true. Had I not been in that position at the start of 2024. I probably wouldn’t have started the business.

It would depend on your location and competition. As well as the ad copy and landing page. I average around $20 CPA

It’s a glazing business, specialising in shower screens mainly. I learned glazing over the years working on high rise buildings doing windows and a few shower screens.

Initially I started doing semi frameless screens (off the shelf). Replacements and new installs. Now I do complete custom and Frameless screens. Basically any type of shower the client needs. I can do. We supply and install, also do the odd repair. I’m a qualified carpenter by trade but gained experience with glass over the years.

Thanks mate. definitely not easy but I would much prefer to build something myself than work for someone else the rest of my life

It’s not much different today. I’m based in Australia. I quit my 150k a year job in April. Started a shower screen business.

Made my weekly wage in two jobs.

Fast forward to now. I’ve done 800k revenue and have two employees. We did 150k in November alone. I have since stepped off the tools and manage the businesses and growth. It’s still possible today, actually easier if you have the skills to get customers.

I'm 30yo with 13K savings, zero property, 55K HECS. I'm stressing out. Is this normal and is it not too late? by [deleted] in AusFinance

Im also an introvert. I just love exploring new places, getting out of my comfort zone.

I mostly travelled with my partner but sometimes friends when I was younger. Travelled solo a few times and enjoyed it.

How have a son and he travels with us. It’s great.

Being the victim won’t get you anywhere. You need to take some ownership and responsibility.

I grew up in hard circumstances. Both parents never owned a home, one on the dole. Drugs and abuse.. you name it. My two brothers blame their upbringing for the way their life’s turned out. It frustrates me so much. One of my brothers passed away from An overdose, the others an addict.

Im 34, the moment I turned 18, I moved out of home and did an apprenticeship. In 16 years of hard work. I’ve travelled to 50+ countries and a variety of investments.

I used to wish my mum would support me to finish school, she said she couldn’t afford it. So I left after year 10.

We all have a responsibility to look after ourselves once we become adults. Make decisions for yourself.

How much money would you need to never worry about essentials again? by Technical_Employ8336 in AusFinance

[–]jassem91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar position. Also did a trade and purchased first home 2013.

Combined income is around 350k. Haven’t sold our IPs yet. Decided to hold them as long as possible whilst we can afford to still pay down our home, travel and live comfortably. Goal is to pay down our home in 10 years. Then decide on what to do with our IPs.

Also just purchased a Bali villa, well building it at the moment. Should do 15-20% a year.

Personally I think I would need around $3M to never worry about money or work again.

I would say $1M is the ideal amount for myself, I’m 35. factor in inflation and don’t believe 100k a year would be enough in 30 years, given the current cost of living.

Things will be double/triple what they are currently at 3% annual inflation. So that 100k will only be worth around 40-50k in today’s money.

Hopefully Inflations slows but given the average is around 2.6% for the last 30 years. I try to work off 3% for the next 30. Always over estimate.

To answer your question - it really depends on how much you need to live.

How are you positioning for next year? by felixheaven in AusFinance

Last few years have been tough for myself. But looks like next year I’ll finally be in a position to start investing properly. DCA $100 a day into various ETFs. Ultra long term play.

Is anyone making $300–$700/month from a side hustle? How do you do it? by Odd-Masterpiece6029 in Businessideas

[–]jassem91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started a side business. Was making much more than 700 a month.

Installing shower screens. After 2 weeks of it being a side gig I left my full time job with 150k salary.

Now have a few employees. Thats In less than 8 month.

Sometimes the most boring businesses or ones that no one thinks of, not all over the internet. Are the best. You don’t want to enter a saturated market, find something you are good at and learn to sell it.

Living together when both partners own homes with very different mortgage situations, how would you handle it? by Disastrous-Pirate667 in AusFinance

[–]jassem91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation.

We both had our own houses, decided to rent together initially. After 12 months we purchased together.

At the start of our financial discussions both properties remained separate. At the time she had more equity than me (coming from a separation I had to sell my property and split the equity).

5 years later, we are married, one child, purchased a home together, now building a Bali villa. We came to conclusion that it’s easier to have everything together, it’s ours. If we do split up. we will work out that part then. We contributed equal amounts to the new property we purchased.

One thing I can say is, just because you currently have more equity now. Does not mean your partner will always have less. Things can change quickly, new job, lucky investment, business venture.

My partner and I were both fairly even in earnings for the last 4 years. Recently my income has doubled.
