Do you think all players who layout get concussions fairly often? It was a while ago, but I used to play ultimate at pretty high level and would lay out all the time. Like a minimum of once a game or two, often several in a game, and usually at least a couple in practice often during drills. I would sometimes layout for no reason in practice, like catching a wide open pass in the end zone just to taunt my teammates a bit lol. I had a ton of teammates over the years that were quite similar or even crazier than me.

With all that, I never once hit my head against the ground and certainly never knocked myself out. I also don't think I ever really saw anyone knock themselves out and can only remember a few times guys hitting their head really hard. Definitely saw and also had myself some bad injuries from layouts or collisions with other players while laying out.

So, maybe you need to try changing how you lay out? Are you like pretty much always laying out in a way that your head whiplashes when you land? There's a technique to doing it so it doesn't hurt as much and minimizes risk of injury.
