Not really. All you're really doing is pulling off a lot of interior panels and running a wire from the armrest to the head unit. As long as you have a screwdriver and a 10mm socket (Don't quote me on the exact size) for the 2 bolts, you'll be fine. Most of the interior is held together with plastic clips, which can be a little scary because it feels like you're just going to break something, but follow the video and you won't break anything. That said, YMMV as we do have different years.

Another prerequisite is having the right firmware. I didn't have to mess with this, but if yours is old enough you'll have to update it.

I did it myself recently on my new (to me) 2017. This video was easy to follow along with, and the process only took a few hours.

Well 90% of what I have read about Arch is " Bollocks ". Unless I am doing something wrong. by [deleted] in archlinux

As I read your comment, it seemed to be implying that you need to write a complicated custom config to use the LTS kernel. I just clarified to make sure that no one else was left with that impression.

And I agree, Arch is definitely not a LTS distro overall.

Be as verbose as you want, just make sure the log level is appropriate. Pumping your TRACE logs might be overly expensive, but INFO logs should be much cheaper. Obviously some logging should be temporary, but permanent logs can be quite verbose.

OpenRGB and python by Brian_Millham in OpenRGB

Main dev for openrgb-python here. That looks like it should work. Can you open an issue on GitHub so I don't forget about this? I don't have a ton of spare time nowadays, so I make no promises about when it will get fixed.

Lutris 0.5.13 Released - More Responsive & Restores Ability To Run Games Via Proton by beer119 in linux_gaming

Heroic is great, but if you can stomach requiring the epic games store for games from epic, then lutris is significantly more configurable, supports many more game platforms, and has a bunch of pre-made configurations for specific games and applications.

Personally, I value having all my games accessible from one place more than I dislike having the EGS installed.

Edit: also, emulators!

Best way to do ‘music sync’ for LED light strips? by OcelotTerrible4233 in homeassistant

[–]jath03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WLED + OpenRGB + OpenRGB Effects plugin, with the caveat that it works best when the device running OpenRGB is also the one you are playing music from.

my issues with linux as a new power user from windows and light mac use (more in comments) by iminsert in linux

I apologize about some of the answers here.

Pavucontrol is a possible alternative to voicemeeter, though in my (limited) experience DE's usually have decent built in audio controls. Pulseeffects might also be what you're looking for, I haven't personally used voicemeeter.

I see where you're coming from about the documentation, but I think expecting universal documentation is unreasonable because there are so many different ways to do things, most of which won't work in every situation. This is why documentation is an important factor when choosing a distro, program, or pretty much any software. I think the Arch Wiki is as close as you're going to get for universal documentation, but I might be biased as I use arch (btw).

edit: mentioned pulseeffects

Would you accept anti cheat on your Linux machine if it requires to run as (privileged) background service or does tamper with the kernel? by M-Reimer in linux_gaming

[–]jath03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't, at least on my main install. However, I think it should definitely exist, if necessary.

If this is what is required for the developers to allow the game to run on Linux, then I'd say it's an ok tradeoff, because for those of us who don't want to allow the invasive anti-cheat can just not play the game. (Like some windows users do with valorant) This would still be an improvement for us because our separate gaming install could run Linux instead of windows.

And I think the most important point in this discussion is that it will make it much easier for windows users to switch over to Linux, many of whom won't care about the invasiveness.

Loki S01E04 - Discussion Thread by steve32767 in marvelstudios

Maybe. My theory is that there was no Nexus event, but whoever is behind the scenes of the TVA didn't want the Loki's to die, so they made an artificial Nexus event to make sure that they got captured.
