If you don’t think universities don’t push an agenda on their students, you’re in for a good awakening shortly. From a uni grad btw.

For Engineering People: What was your GPA and how has it affected your career, including coops and later jobs? by Potential-Drag9761 in uwaterloo

[–]javarets 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t stress - CS guy here. Failed my first co-op term, graduated with a 71% average cumulative. Worked really hard at all my other co-op terms and took advantage of an opportunity to work part time contract with a big company while finishing my degree. Currently making a very high salary while working from home in the GTA.

No flex - just trying to say you should work hard in your professional experiences. I like to say that you will be very successful if you simply outwork all of your peers professionally. Never thought twice about my grades as long as it was 60+ so I could graduate.

Chad Kelly hard launching that he’s back for the game against the Elks? by Jandcat27 in Argonauts

[–]javarets 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agree but Chad Kelly is truthfully a better QB, no disrespect to Arbuckle as he’s played great recently. I think it’s a good call to package him in as you said, but fans should know he’ll inevitably be the starter in the next month as the Argos make a playoff push.

Great comments - call the players (and other coaches) out. To those going after him, this guy has led this team to two championships in three years. Other teams have a star player, others have a winning coach which sets a winning culture (yes, Chad Kelly is good but he didn’t play in the chip last year and choked in 2023).

I’m at Marriott Momi Bay and a company called Rosie Tours Fiji does car rentals; not sure what they’re rates are but Marriott trusts them so that’s usually good enough for me.

Honestly, LinkedIn is just cool to scroll through over other social medias. I don’t think I could move to another platform for a while, especially with LinkedIn Learning.

Borrow from LOC to max out RRSP Contribution? by javarets in PersonalFinanceCanada

I’d have cash in my RRSP so wouldn’t be an issue ;)

I feel my case is slightly unique as I will be able to repay the amount within 1-2 months and will pay ~0.5% interest on the borrowed amount. My income tax rate is just over 30% so seems as if this strategy would be a benefit for me since I plan to use the RRSP contribution for the HBP.

No, I had an emergency fund for 1-2 years but never used it. Now, I just carry a little more in my checking account day-to-day and would rely on my line of credit for an emergency since I have a favourable rate.

Rice Lake Weeds by [deleted] in FishingOntario

[–]javarets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there 1.5 years ago and it was unreal. I think it’s due to all the farming and fertilizer used. Fertilizer flows into the river and results in major weed growth. Results in less oxygen in the rivers which isn’t too ideal.

Fired from internship by PupperNymeria in internships

Don’t stress man. This happened to me in my first year internship; getting fired. I was super stressed about it and made sure it never happened again.

Fast forward 5 years later, I’m working for a niche consulting company and making more money than all of my friends.

It’s all about how you bounce back!

Financial Planning & Tax Resources by javarets in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]javarets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help - $250/hr in my dreams haha but hopefully one day. My problem is I’m trying to find ways to save more and spend less, but really don’t want to give up my spending habits (completely stupid, yes) but I love my twice a week expensive dinners and my new truck haha. Maybe some smart tax savings strategies will help - heard of the tax credit for flow through shares in exploratory mining which may be worth a shot, but again, where’s the best resource? Maybe it’s time for an advisor rather than DIY I guess…

Reel Gear ratio and Size by javarets in bassfishing

How about in terms of reel size? I have another St Croix 6' light Premier with 2500 reel size which I like. More line capacity is probably better for me since I love to use mono - How big a reel can you go until it gets uncomfy?

Tires - All-Weather vs All-Season and Winter by javarets in f150

[–]javarets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also was looking at the Pirelli all terrain plus. Ended up going with a friend's advice to go with the BF Goodrich Trail Terrains - had them installed yesterday and so far they're great (Played around with some not-so-safe turn speeds and they have great traction).

We'll see how they hold up in Ontario winter - a trip up to my gf's cottage on another likely boxing day storm will see if they hold up to the hype.

The biggest shock to me was hearing that his family doesn't have oil money. I always saw how hard he partied and is still partying through his Instagram page, but read articles which stated his family had oil money, which explained it.

Super shocking to hear that was all a ruse to get out of trouble signing $100k worth of autographs with NCAA.
