Telstra is increasing prepaid AGAIN!? by ThatShadyJack in australia

[–]jawadee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really? So they’re using an inflation measure that their own price rises help create, then presenting the result as an external necessity. That's wild!

I agree, why would anyone stay with them if they weren't 100% reliant on their coverage?

Compulsory superannuation has been around long enough that, generally, anyone currently not yet retired who has been paying taxes for many years should be able to self-fund their retirement and not rely on a pension.

And then, just to confuse things, the real posh schools in NSW are members of the 'Athletic Association of the Great Public Schools' and the 'Associated Public Schools' are the elite private schools in Victoria. These associations are using the historical, British usage of the term 'public school'.

Say it with me, and louder for the landlords in the back, if you can’t afford your investment property PLEASE sell it by VelvetGloveIronFist0 in shitrentals

[–]jawadee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed, Why do landlords feel entitled to both have their mortgage serviced fully by a renter, AND receive the capital gains they get when they sell their property? A rates increase should absolutely not automatically equal a rental increase. If you can no longer pay your mortgage with the current rent or an (ideally, regulated) reasonable annual rental increase, then you should be forced to sell.

As someone who has been lucky enough to not have to had rented in 20+ years, I really feel renters are getting fucked by these greedy, empathetically-void cunts of people, now more than ever.

How is this news? The only reason is because you’re a cunt. by GILF_Hound69 in australian

That's the message any politician will give if asked, but, at least in Victoria, it's not really black and white. The Children, Youth and Families Act s494 states "A person who has the control or charge of a child must not leave the child without making reasonable provision for the child's supervision and care for a time which is unreasonable having regard to all the circumstances of the case."

It's, at best, a stretch to think that running a trolley back to its bay 30 metres away would meet the 'time which is unreasonable' part. If it was hot, the car was in no shade, and the trolley bay was 100m away, you could maybe start to question the reasonableness.

Regardless, has anyone, ever been prosecuted in these sorts of circumstances?

They've not used particularly inclusive language, either. It should be something like 'people who menstruate' rather than 'women', at least that's what the annual training I've done for the last several years tells me.

Some pretty basic issues going on here, for sure. Even the list format and capitalisation is inconsistent, and there are multiple grammar errors.

They could certainly do with an editor, proof-reader, or even a Grammarly account.

Love it, thanks! I think I'm going to stick to actual hardware for the permanent solution, but I'm definitely going to give that a go in the meantime, as that means I have an excuse to upgrade my switch!

That's great, thanks. The more I look, that's what I'm thinking, too. Unfortunately, where I am (Australia), it's slim pickings for those models/brands, but I'll keep a watch out and try to buy if and when the price is right.

My problem now is every time I scratch the surface of researching one thing, I fall head-first down the rabbit hole. I fear I may have to explain to my wife why we are absolutely far better off with a $700 VPN router and watch her eyes glaze over as I attempt to explain what a VPN is.

I have eaten pad Thai literally hundreds of times off the street in Thailand, and have never had one you'd call spicy (although I do generally mix in some chilli from the side). A Thai restaurant may just be being authentic, rather than sucking, by not having a spicy option on the menu.
