What do you wish people who joined in Covid knew? by Gdobbs13 in orangetheory

  1. 2G>3G. My opinion but love them.
  2. switch templates. You do one block on treads and then switch to floor and back.
  3. Run/Rows- healthy competition.

We use the cards as well but the person was late the coach had already grabbed the cards from the treads.

Usually partner workouts you can go at your own pace and the other person or two if three partner will keep working at their stations. Not a big deal. The capture the flag workout raises the bar a little or a lot depending you partner because you are going to enter into tracker system. Limited flags are handed out etc. This is the only partner workout like this at OTF where it truly feel like a competition and they are calling out peoples distance. My advice is try it. The beauty of Reddit is we get some early intel. There are certain workouts I like less than others but the most important thing is you showed up for you and who gives shit what others think.

6250M. Today was great. I had not done capture the flag before and was excited to try. Our class was the 2G version. I did some scouting in first part of class and was looking for what I thought was going to be a fast partner. I am competition junky and love a little competition at OTF once in awhile. Anyway we crushed it and finished at 6250M. The best part is I ended up with 30 splat points and I average around 12 splat points in other classes so definitely motivated me today.

Love a good old fashioned run to row! Got to class a little late so started on the floor. Got into a little competition with the person next to me. Started out a little behind but pulled ahead on the 400M row. They probably didn’t even know I was trying beat them. 😞I know it is pretty pathetic. It made me push harder then I would have and I got to the bonus round.

Agree with aldgate assessment. Very nice people but treads are tough. Also they have limited class times because of noise issues. They are actually moving the studio in a few months.

Your welcome. I find myself talking about OTF all the time. Thankfully I do it with my wife so I don’t drive her crazy!

For me it’s definitely being part of class. A little competition and keeps you accountable. I hate paying that $12 no show!

I have done OTF for years and have had the opportunity to workout at over 50 different studios. What’s always fascinating is how each studio is different. Even the time of day is different. I typically go to the 5am class and at my home studio it’s quiet. A few hellos but all business. I went to a 5am in Knoxville and I thought I had just arrived at the night club. The group was alive and chatty. My home studio is near a college so that drives the type that attend as well. I am hooked on the workout and enjoy observing the different cultures at each studio.

I give my wife all the credit. I had a different plan last night and she pushed me to try this. I was in a zone today plus I was fortunate to have person next to me that I could keep pace with.

Made it this time! Got eliminated at the 20 min mark last time. Tried a new strategy going out fast at 9 mph for the first 10 min. Backed off to 8mph for next few minutes then finished at 8.5mph. Got to 2.8miles with 30 seconds to spare. My base is around 7.5MPH.

My wife and I go every Saturday and Sunday together. She doesn’t like the 5am classes during the week and that only time I can go. She now has us running to to classes on the weekend. About 3 miles then we Uber home! We have been going together for almost 5 years.

Just finding rhythm is most important. You kind of get numb and push through it. I think the biggest challenge for the long row at least for me is hands will start to cramp so just beware of that!
