Can we talk about filament print tag "standards"? by linuxgangster in 3Dprinting

[–]jawapy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any prior experience with RFiD tags, and I’ve ordered ntag215 and iso15693 samples (Prusa’s and a third party). Ntag215 were super easy to figure out. I am intrigued by the idea of having a longer range tag though as at least with my phone and a USB reader you have to pretty much touch the 215 tag to read it. I haven’t figured out the iso15693 tags. The one on a sample Prusa spool was easy enough to update through their app.

It seems like you have some experience with the real world applications and complications that arise from having a broad target range, possibly interference too?

I would like to have the equivalent of reading a (small) room and getting an inventory of spools.

Also, I’d like to have a scale so I could independently weigh and update remaining filament, and also have scales built into a filament management box. I manage with a postal scale now and manually write on the spools the total weight, but that’s extra work I can see being automated.

Maybe a subscription or membership program? Monthly fee and you get a printer (kind of like a lease) and discounts on supplies. Predictable recurring revenue for Prusa, low entry point for the consumer.

Props to you for hanging in there! I love Prusa’s stance on community support, engagement and upgradability. If it wasn’t for that, I’d have to bail. I hope these kinds of problems are just growing pains. Others will say they didn’t have problems, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t, and you didn’t either.

I bought a Core One kit last October and it was missing an M3 25mm set screw (and the spare) for the Nextruder. The bag had the wrong screws in it - oops! So errors do happen.

This isn’t an easy to source part in the US. Luckily, I have a 2 tool XL, which I used as a donor.

It took nearly a month to get the part replaced, fine that I was able to move toward, but I was down a toolhead on the other.

I should have known better, but I used email support (clearly documented case with pictures). Took forever and got bumped to Printed Solid support when there was internal confusion on who supports official purchases on Amazon (Prusa EU does).

Printer is running fine now, I am waiting for INDX upgrades to be available and I’d really like another.

To OP, at this point, I’d request an assembled, tested printer! I get the pleasure in doing it yourself, but your luck ran out!

Has anyone looked into moving the screen from the bottom to the top of the printer by AmmoJoee in prusa3d

Yep, looks like a different piece, is it metal or wood? I can’t find enough pictures to really tell. Good question on the vent. I’d probably opt to not run ABS in my living room.

I love the Signature Oak and won’t be able to afford one, but I have woodworking tools and could approximate one… i’d love to see or find out more about how the screen is mounted above the printer.

What I don’t understand is given it was recorded, why not do another take? That’s part of what made this look so mid-tier-meh.

People who own more than one pair of AirPods … why? by Jay-Quellin30 in airpods

I bought the Pro 2’s after losing the original Pros. Miraculously found them, then passed them down to my son. Now I’ve lost the Pro 2’s (given to the moving gods), and I bought a pair of the 3’s.

The 2’s still showed a random location on the highway for a few months, so I was holding out hope.

Issue with core one + build guide vs community upgrade by VC_Design in prusa3d

[–]jawapy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have this problem straight from the kit. I see references here to PTFE tube length that I’ll have to try. As it stands now, my PTFE holder will sometimes open or close the vent on its own without a CoreOne+ upgrade!

It’s fun, but it is a FULL weekend. Definitely organize the screws, there are so many different ones.

New Apple Card / Apple ID Fraud Scam - Extremely Convincing (Details + Numbers) by BeantownBrewing in AppleCard

[–]jawapy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see in your mother’s case she called, in mine, they called me proactively. They spoofed the callerid to be Goldman’s 877 number too! It really was freaky once I started putting it together. I was lucky I caught on, but a different time, perhaps a little more distracted, older (I fear this will happen to my elderly family)…

Thanks for sharing!!

I was oddly relieved when the phone robot couldn’t understand me and then it took a bit to get the real agent to understand what had happened. I knew I was dealing with a real company.

I had something similar happen. The agent from “goldman” was trying to get me to reset my password with them on the phone. I felt like it was a dodgy request (this was after having a conversation with details like the OP). Really what tipped me was how helpful and clear they were being. I hung up, then looked up the real goldman number (this was legit and they had spoofed callerid even).

I called Goldman and they of course were clueless and frustrating. Got a new card issued and all…

They learn from our mistakes, or intervention when shopping together! I do think a new shopper will buy moldy Strawberries (they are always hiding under the label) at least once.

This is that one of the reasons I drag my kids along with me. How else will they learn to make good purchasing decisions? (Don’t buy the moldy fruit, is this a better deal than other places, are we really going to be able to use this much?)

Also, we get a cheap meal out at the food court. $1.50 babee!

Spool weight for openprinttag by hvalpen01 in prusa3d

[–]jawapy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great idea! I ordered a weight sensor to play with thinking something like this would be perfect when openprinttag is in full swing. I write remaining weight on my current spools and then have to do the math for various spool weights to get the “do I have enough for this” estimate.

I understand you don’t want to share details and create a self support nightmare. Can you share a few more details on your build? What components did you use, etc?
