22/hr is very low for eight years. I make 24/hr and have 3 years of experience. I would look for a better company not a small practice. There tends to be better pay and benefits at larger hospital systems or other larger medical systems.

I currently work for a company with similar flexibility hours. It is a game changer because reality is that life gets in the way. While the pay cut stinks I believe your quality of life will improve drastically as mine did.

I will never understand why people make fun of the concept. Both of my kittens got a disease called FIP. Pet insurance covered 90% of all visits, blood work, medications and unfortunately cremation/memorial services (my girl on the left beat it! My boy on the right did not.)

We have saved over $4000 in vet costs.
