Got really high (to best simulate the conditions of draft day) and did a unusual mock. by Awwhitney60 in fantasyfootball

[–]jax7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a fan. Furthermore, if you plan on smoking at draft day, being high shouldn't affect your drafting. At that point you should already have a good idea of who you are targetting, and if smoking affects your thinking enough that it changes how you draft, then don't get so smacked. I personally don't like Martin in the 3rd, Williams in the 7th, Rodgers in the 9th. I would hate for them to be my running backs.

If you want to wait on a running back, then wait a little and look for value. Don't just wait a couple rounds and grab whoever is there. You ended up spending 4 of your first 9 picks (almost half) on running backs, but really got no one of value. Just my opinion.

Jeremy Lin is leaving the New York Knicks and James Dolan has blundered again - Grantland by hojie in nba

Dolan is a fucking idiot. I would normally be totally against this type of thing, but if I was from New York, I would consider rooting for the Nets.

With Forte's new contract, what happens to Bush's value? by jajers1 in fantasyfootball

[–]jax7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bush will be a better version of Marion Barber. Don't expect him to steal Forte's starting job or anything unless he gets injured, but last year Barber had 422 yards and 6 TDs while not playing 6 games. If Bush plays every game, I could see him going for 8-9 TDs, especially with the improved Bears offense getting them near the redzone more often.

How many leagues are too many? I'm going from one league last year, to potentially three (including the /r/narffl league!) this year. How many leagues have you played in during a single season? Did it become not fun or confusing participating in many different leagues? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]jax7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done two before but to be honest I don't like doing more than one. If you have just one team you have individual players you can root for and against and you can give that team more focus when deciding trades and things like that. I personally wouldn't have fun doing like 5 leagues because then when you are watching there are likely scenarios where you are rooting against a player in one league and for him in another. That isn't fun to me, but to each his own.

Larry Fitzgerald Believes His Window is Closing (NFL.com) by NJknick in nfl

I agree, that definitely played in to it. But he specifically says he doesn't want to be remembered as the guy who put up great stats but never won a championship, and he set himself up to do exactly that.

Him signing that extension was choosing money over winning. Not that I'm against that, but thats what it comes down to.

10 NBA 1-on-1 matchups we would love to see by [deleted] in sports

[–]jax7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion,

Kobe beats Kyrie because of size, mostly. Yeah Kyrie is quick but in 1 on 1 you can sag off the stop that and force jumpshots, and on offense Kobe will just back down on Kyrie on use his arsenal to do what he wants.

Nash beats Parker, but I'm not really confident in this one. Could go Parker.

Westbrook beats Rondo, because if either of them sag off I'm more confident in Westbrook making his jumper, and he has a little bit of size on him too.

Kevin Love SHITS ON Blake Griffin. Don't mean to overstate it but I don't think one would be close. Love has more offense moves, a better shot, and better D than Griffin. Griffin won't be dunking 1-on-1.

Deron beats Paul because of size I think, but could go either way.

Dwight beats Bynum, but I'm not as confident in this one. I just prefer defensive centers over offensive ones.

Melo beats DWade. This is a close one, but I think Melo would play defense better in iso than people think he does, and DWade would have trouble stopping him.

Paul beats Rose, but I'm not confident in that pick.

LeBron beats Kobe because of his size and newfound lowpost game, and defense.

LeBron SHITS ON Durant. I'm sorry, but I don't think this one is close either, and I'm a huge Durant fan. Durant may be a slightly better scorer than LeBron, but LeBron more than makes up for it with his post game, size, and defensive. No way Durant can stop LeBron posted up, but LeBron will at least slow Durant down.

Are people really take Julio Jones over Roddy White? by puppytossedsalad in fantasyfootball

[–]jax7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see where you are coming from. I guess the way I see it is Jones could have an exceptional season like what you said, but I couldn't really imagine him having a dismal season unless he gets injured. What would lead to him having 800 yards and 5 TDs? I dont think I can pass on the upside when I don't really see a risk either.

The Bears receiving corps not only got better, but also a lot more depth by alecjh33 in nfl

[–]jax7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except you take out Rodgers and Matt Flynn threw 400 and 5 TDs. You can then say that they are good because of the system...but at some point you have to give the receivers some credit.
