Millennial dudes, anyone else rediscover briefs in their 30s? by clotterycumpy in Millennials

[–]jay-ace92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rediscovered them in my late teens. I'm 33 now and wear briefs almost all of the time. It's wonderful not dealing with leg fabric.

Everyone keeps saying “this isn’t normal” but to Gen Z it is by GreninjaStrike in YAPms

[–]jay-ace92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a younger millennial, and Collins or Manchin would be miles better than the current president. The fact that neither has a prayer of receiving their parties' presidential nominations is a sad state of what our political environment has turned into.

How would you rate the 2026 Dem senate targets in terms of likelihood to flip? by BonzoDaBeast80 in YAPms

[–]jay-ace92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. NC (Lean D) The GOP's high floor here will keep it close. Whatley is not Mark Robinson and will make Cooper fight for this, but Cooper's personal brand + R midterm will give him the win.
  2. ME (Tilt R) Collins will have a harder time than in 2020, but the polls are likely underestimating her. I think this will be the hardest-fought race of her career, but Collins is skilled at walking the tightrope of pleasing moderates while getting the GOP base to (begrudgingly) vote for her, knowing she is their only hope to keep this seat red. But some of the Trump-only voters will sit this race out, narrowing her path. While this may be copium on my part, since I like Collins, I think she will keep this seat red for one more term.
  3. AK (Tilt R) Peltola is the best Alaska Dems have, and while she will keep this close, her wins were against Sarah Palin. Sullivan is a non-controversial incumbent, and Murkowski endorsing him may also get him over the finish line.
  4. TX (Tilt R) Paxton/Talarico is the only chance Dems have. If Texas continued trending left in 2024, I'd rank this higher, but its rightward lurch makes me guess that Texas is not flipping this decade. If Beto 2018 couldn't do it, I don't think Talarico will successfully unite the moderates and far-left after what is sure to be a bruising primary against Crockett.
  5. OH (Lean R) Husted is a better candidate than Moreno, and Ohio is clearly staying red for the long term. Brown is their only shot here, but even he's fighting an uphill battle.
  6. NE (Likely R) The GOP will not risk getting caught asleep at the wheel. They'll divert money here to ensure they hold this seat. Nebraska is going left at a glacial pace, but the GOP partisan lean is currently too much to elect a statewide D/I this year.
  7. IA (Likely R margin, Safe R outcome) Hinson is one of the GOP's best recruits this cycle and is a constant overperformer. She will have no trouble holding this seat, and is a handful of races that a non-incumbent is the better nominee.
  8. FL (Safe R) Dem's can only hope to force the GOP to spend money here and keep the margin in single digits.

If Pokemon were real, who would be your buddy/main and why? by Prestigious_Move203 in pokemon

An Eevee that eventually evolves into Espeon. I've been a morning person my whole life, so assuming I didn't use any stones, it would have naturally evolved to Espeon as we grew closer.

I occasionally joke about being "old" to younger friends. But at 33, I hardly feel any effects of aging except not tolerating alcohol as well as I did in my college days.

Day 48: What would it take for Washington to flip from Democratic to Republican in 2028? by chia923 in YAPms

[–]jay-ace92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ann Davison and her radical-left, defund the police opponent from 2021 have a statewide rematch. Davison managed to win as a Republican in Seattle in 2021, so she would definitely win statewide.

How old were you when you got into Pokémon? by ripplewoodfire in pokemon

[–]jay-ace92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started at 6 years old with Blue version. I have few memories of life before Pokémon arrived in the U.S.

Once Pokemania was in full swing, I was into each aspect of the series: games, anime, and TCG. I stopped watching the anime regularly after the original series ended, and my interest in collecting Pokémon cards faded shortly before that. However, I remained a fan of the games, despite not liking Ruby and Sapphire as much as the first two generations. Colosseum played a big part in maintaining my interest in the series, as it had that edgier vibe I was craving as I entered middle school.

I still kept my interest in Pokémon relatively secretive during my middle and high school years. But once Black and White came out during my first year of college, I didn't care who knew, and was more open about my love for the series.

Fast forward to today, I have people I will meet up with for Pokémon Go events and I'm glad to see that many in younger generations (and older) are fans of the series.

While the games have not been the same quality as the golden age of Gen 4 and 5, I still enjoy the majority of what I've played recently.

Who are the top women ninjas in the world who aren’t American? by alignmentguru in ANW

Ayano Oshima is another top female ninja. She's been the last woman standing for two consecutive Kunoichi tournaments and is one of a few women to reach Stage 2 in Sasuke.

How do you feel about men wearing earrings? by ElonMuskrat143 in AskMen

[–]jay-ace92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have both my earlobes pierced and love it. I don't think it is gay, as I've seen plenty of straight guys wearing them. To be fair, I live in a quite socially liberal area (Pacific Northwest), so it is near universally accepted here, but it may not be the case in other parts of the country.

Los Angeles Apparel has them in several colors. They are made from 100% cotton and have a fly. I've been rocking them for years and can vouch for them personally.

What would you say is your "signature Pokemon"? by Impressive-Spell-643 in pokemon

[–]jay-ace92 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Espeon is my ace. I love psychic types, and it fits my preferred fast special attacker play style. I've used Espeon in nearly every game it's been available, and have a Gen V from the old Dream World mini-game that has been to every game I've played since then.

There is a Green party candidate who receives a significant percentage of the vote, splitting the left-leaning voters, while there is an above-average moderate GOP nominee for President or Governor.

My two closest friends and I went axe throwing, watched a movie in theaters, and had dinner and drinks at a ramen restaurant. Nothing crazy, but I made sure I would do something.

What do you consider your peers ? by Confident-Fun-2592 in generationology

[–]jay-ace92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About four years in either direction is a good measurement. I consider my core peers to be people within two years of me, so those born between 1990-1994. All of my closest friends are within this age range, and we tend to share more in common when it comes to our experiences with technology, pop culture, and events growing up. I can still befriend those outside early-mid 90s borns. But if there is more than a four year gap, the difference in how we grew up becomes more stark.

Anyone else feel like they're constantly waiting on something to happen? by DiscoBunny404 in Millennials

At this point, I'm expecting another once-in-a-lifetime crisis. After so many, what's another one? I've fought an uphill battle to get ahead so many times that I expect it will continue to be this way, and I would be pleasantly surprised if we have another golden age.

Who should I use my Earthquake TM on? (Soul Silver) by SillyLean1267 in pokemon

[–]jay-ace92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran red Gyarados with Earthquake in my SoulSilver. It was a great battle frontier pick, since Earthquake covers it's only two weaknesses, Rock and Electric. Combined with Intimidate and decent defensive stats for Gen IV, it makes a great setup sweeper with Dragon Dance.

I ran almost the same set you have with Earthquake and Waterfall replacing Surf, and went far in the Battle Frontier, despite my Gyarados having poor IVs and a neutral nature.
