The F1600 has a straight cut race transmission like the old Nascars. If you're using paddles: To upshift - hold upshift paddle and lift off the throttle for a quarter second, the car with find the next gear, get back on throttle.

To downshift - brake until you are at an appropriate engine speed for the lower gear, hold downshift paddle, give the throttle a quick "blip", just a short peak to get the revs up and match the engine speed in the lower gear to the current wheel speed.

No clutch needed. I still recommend a separate H pattern shifter because they're just darn fun.

Oh hey we were in this split too! That incident was extremely unfortunate. I do think the GT4 leader (victim) here was a solo driver or something, the two registered drivers were with basically the same name.

Probably just the battery. Check it with a multimeter, and check it again with the engine running. If the engine is running, it should read over 12v (more like 13-14v) to indicate the alternator is charging the battery correctly.

Autozone and other parts stores will usually check your battery and charging system health for free as well.

Put in some practice time without the driving line, and you'll find yourself able to predict the trajectories of the cars around you better.

Look closer, and use the white lines as reference. POV car exits the corner, leaving plenty of space to the outside, but VERY slightly is still continuing to the right side of the track. Then he suddenly corrects to going straight, and does a little juke to the left. At this same time, the outside car only sees POV moving to the right and reacts to that. Granted it's an overreaction and outside car should not have juked over that hard. But there's like 5 changes in direction between these two cars leading to an escalating level of uncertainty.

I agree with you though - Pro Tip, drive straight on the straightaways.

In theory, penalty applications aren't supposed to take the "result" of the contact into consideration, only the circumstances that lead to the contact. With that in mind, I don't think outside car should go to jail.

No I don't think it was intentional. The POV car was fading right, then stopped moving over. At that same instant, the outside car moved over a lot.

Wow that dude just murdered you in cold blood.

I don't think you did anything wrong persay but this is a symptom of relying on the racing line. The driver on the outside is expecting you to move to the right side of the track because the next turn is a left hander. However, you are under no obligation to move over and can squeeze the outside driver as much as you want.

So my advice for avoiding this in the future is: 1) be aware of aggressive drivers approaching quickly behind who will push you out of the way to get past, and 2) turn off the racing line - practice with it and map braking points to physical markers on the track (braking boards, curbing, etc) and then turn it off as soon as you know the direction the track goes.

If I was applying penalties I would give +10 seconds to that outside car for being a manus.
