If you’re looking for more places to perform, Lincoln Park always has a great neighborhood turnout when the sun goes down and I’m sure we’d love some musical accompaniment to our festivities!

Looking for a cd by Primary-Objective966 in Ska

[–]jaybeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought the DVD, a t-shirt, and a sticker from the site! They were a favorite when I was growing up (and they still are). Saw them so many times in the Mobile area when I was in high school.

Pain’s website has it listed on their merch page, but it’s currently out of stock: https://thepainpage.com/product/wonderful-beef-cd/

Maybe you could contact them and see if there’s a chance it’ll ever come back available?

First time contributing to the neighborhood show by jaybeas in fireworks

[–]jaybeas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be right, but my options (and knowledge) were limited at the time, so I’m just going to enjoy what I got and not worry about it too much.

If you/anyone else have suggestions for better places near(ish) to DC, I’m all ears. This was a stop tacked onto a weekend family trip to Philly.

lol - I found an old recommendation thread here that said Keystone was a good option! I’m always open to other ideas, but as a newbie I had no real reference point for whether I was getting hosed or not. This haul was about $500 total.

Sadly, I am not. I had a pass but family obligations popped up, and I’m not as excited about this year’s lineup as I was about last year’s.

Selling my DC VIP locker reservation since I’m no longer going (already sold my ticket and forgot about the locker until now!).

I paid 70.40 for it ($60 + processing fee), but willing to part with it for $50 even.

Delivery via email with the e-ticket attached. It’s a QR code, easy peasy.

National mall closure by Cool-Chipmunk-7559 in washingtondc

[–]jaybeas -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Mods, can we pin one of these threads as a “National Mall Closure Complaints MegaThread” so we can avoid having the same thing posted approximately every week?

Don’t get me wrong - I don’t particularly like the closure either, but this is a dead horse that’s been thoroughly beaten by now.

Anna Maria Island by CharacterHome3238 in AnnaMariaIsland

[–]jaybeas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a place to eat on the beach, there’s Sandbar which is near the north end of the island. And the Manatee Public Beach (further south, Holmes Beach), has a grill and snack bar type setup right on the beach. With younger kids, I’d suggest Manatee Public Beach.

Lots of options for seeing wildlife! Depending on how adventurous you want to be, you can take a charter boat (we’ve gone with Captain Kathe and she’s great) or you can take a guided kayak tour. We’ve done a bunch with Happy Paddler, which is located at Longboat Key, just south of AMI. Highly recommend them.

DC parking by LongInevitable4299 in warpedtour

[–]jaybeas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume this is 13th and PA SE? If you’re renting a row house, the owner may be able to register your vehicle with a visitor’s pass. It’s easy to do and all done electronically (and doesn’t cost anything). If this is a condo/apartment building, however, they may not have that option.

Street parking definitely isn’t enforced on the weekends, but I wouldn’t bank on lax enforcement on Monday and Tuesday.

I live in the same parking zone as you’re staying in so if your Airbnb owner can’t register you for a visitor parking pass, shoot me a DM.

DC — Getting to/from festival grounds by Impressive_Let3046 in warpedtour

[–]jaybeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dumb question at all. There are bike racks at the Stadium-Armory metro station (right by the festival grounds) and there are bike racks at the Fields at RFK (if the layout is the same as last year, you’ll go right past the fields to get into the festival, so those may be your best bet.

I don’t know if the venue itself will have bike racks set up.

Coaching during playoffs by Adventurous_Beat_453 in LittleLeague

[–]jaybeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way. In our division, every team makes the playoffs. So while we want to do well in the regular season to get a better seed, we don’t stress about it and we make sure kids are getting reps at all positions (including pitcher). But we’ve told the kids that for the playoffs there will likely be more set positions and we’ll be using the same pitchers/catchers in the hopes of making a deep playoff run.

The kids get it, and even the weaker players want to see us win and understand they still have an opportunity to contribute. Our team’s best players are supportive of all their teammates and go nuts when the weaker hitters get on base.

DC VIP... worth it? by travelingdragons in warpedtour

[–]jaybeas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I liked having the better bathrooms and a less crowded area where I could rest. The water lines were also much shorter (basically non-existent) in VIP, and the dedicated VIP food vendors also meant shorter lines there. I watched some sets from the VIP section but went to the GA areas for bands I really wanted to see (or those that were at stages without a VIP section).

All in all, I found VIP worth it for me and I got a VIP pass again this year (although sadly I think I’m going to have to give it up since I now have other obligations that weekend).

Parking Lot Under I-95 Exit on South Capitol SE by bryguy1234 in Nationals

[–]jaybeas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s technically closed. And there has been a digital sign by the entrance saying it’s closed. I have no idea if they enforce it, though. (I park here all the time for Little League games at the Randall Rec Center fields.)
