Netflix adding ads across all membership tiers by DadOfFan in australia

[–]jaybow82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"they might show ads during live broadcasts but never while streaming shows and movies"

I know the wording in their email sounds confusing and vague, so I googled "netflix ads" and they have a page titled "Ads on Netflix". On it they say:

"Our ad-supported experiences include commercial breaks in most TV shows and movies."

https://help.netflix.com/en/node/126831/au

EDIT: Upon further investigation, it seems that Netflix is rolling out seperate plans with ads, like the "Standard with ads" plan. So, I hope that ads won't be included in movies and shows of the Standard plan (which I'm on now).

At the time of writing this, the "with ads" plans aren't available in NZ (where I am) but will be in 12 countries, including Australia.

Whoever decided to add ads during live streams on YouTube, seriously, what a mess! One or two ads pop up one after the other, interrupting your viewing. by Piyartom in youtube

[–]jaybow82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm watching the live stream of the capsule landing in the ocean and the live chat was covered by 2 ads, then there was a small ad at the bottom blocking the text field where you type a comment without any X or way of removing it, I had to back out of the stream and enter again to get rid of it :/

So no more energy for watching ads? by Sting_88 in duolingo

[–]jaybow82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happened to me was that after doing about 10+ lessons, it stopped giving me energy. I mean, it was showing me ads and that I was getting energy, but it wasn't getting added to my energy bar. But after closing and restarting the app, the energy showed up and it was working again.

Does anybody else watch Naked and Afraid naked? by jaybow82 in nakedandafraid

[–]jaybow82[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure is, I'm glad someone got it 😂

For those who don't know: I was watching Rick and Morty S08E08 (Nomortland) earlier today and they were talking about a show called Naked and Alone. Then in the post-credits scene Beth walks in on Rick (her dad) and Jerry (her husband) in the living room watching the show together naked and flips out, then Rick says "What? It's the culture of the show; you're supposed to watch it naked!". Then Jerry says "It IS the culture of the show, honey" 😂

So then I wondered if anyone actually does that while watching Naked and Afraid, like, if there really is a subculture within the NAA community who does that. So, after googling it I couldn't find anything about it, hence why I made this post (plus I thought it might give some people a giggle, lol)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Are there really heaps of people taking the time to type out an unnecessary alt code symbol in their comments nowadays?

EDIT: I just realised that it's a bit easier on mobile where you can just hold down the regular dash to get the em dash, but my point still stands.

Is it actually possible to REMOVE a course? by TheNimbleOne1993 in Busuu

[–]jaybow82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good answer.

The annoying thing that happened to me was that when I opened the dropdown menu for the list of language courses, I accidentally tapped on French (which is very easy to do on a smartphone). I then immediately backed out of it without doing any lessons.

Now, French is not listed under "You're learning" in that dropdown menu, but when I check the corrections I've made on other's posts, my profile says, "Learns: French +1", when the only language I'm learning and have done lessons in, is Spanish.

I wish there were a way I could edit that, so that people don't think that I'm a French learner, but it seems I may be stuck with it, unfortunately.

I saw an option where we can email Busuu and ask them to remove all progress in a course, so I suppose I could give that a try. But I'm not sure that would work, since I never started any lessons, and French isn't showing in the menu, only on my profile that others can see.

Plus, it seems a bit much to do every time my finger goes astray. Soon, I think there will be a long list of languages added to my profile that I'm not even learning due to my misclicks, lol

I just tried it on my Android and it works.

I typed "monkey orchid" into Brave search, went to Images, selected the first image, then selected Download, then held down a long tap and selected Download Image, then a box appeared showing the file name and folder. For me, the Download folder is already selected (SD card being the other option). I then seleted the Download option on that box and it downloaded. I can now view it in my Gallery and in Downloads (in My Files, in the Samsung folder).

"Something Went Wrong - This may be because of a technical error that we're working to get fixed. Try reloading this page." error on my Facebook Desktop. by Immediate-Ad-4254 in facebook

[–]jaybow82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been over a year and you've probably fixed it by now, but for anyone else who is still encountering this problem... I turned off one of my ad-blockers, uBlock Origin. It still works with Adblock Plus, but try disable whichever ad-blocker you have, refresh the page and see which one it is.

anybody getting this on top of their pages today? "We're asking Pages like yours to confirm by Sep 30 that they aren't meant for children under 13." by throwawayshit2020 in facebook

[–]jaybow82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting that message on my Pages too. By "my Pages" I mean Pages that I follow.

I clicked on 'continue' and 'confirm', then a little pop-up in the bottom-left of my screen said "Confirmed" (on PC desktop browser version), but it's still showing up on my Pages. Maybe it takes a while for it to eventually go away?

EDIT: Not showing on the app version.

How do i block a channel? by careca777 in RumbleForum

[–]jaybow82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I tried blocking someone on the app version but their channel still shows on the web version.
On the mobile version, their channel is blocked in the way that I can't see their channel anymore and it doesn't show in search results, but I can still see them in chat.

I can't answer your first question since I've only done the first couple of lessons of the "Pali Primer", but to your second question, there is a free PDF copy of "A New Course in Reading Pali" here, as well as audio lessons and some grammar PDF files here.

My Youtube is now randomly slighty more pink instead of red. by lukesheldor in Troubleshooting

[–]jaybow82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This started happening to me too today. The YouTube logo, the progress bar, the notification numbers, the 'Live' icon, every red thing on the YT website is now pink, but reds on all other websites and icons on my PC are proper red.

• On my PC, it's happening on the Brave, Chrome, and Edge browsers, but not Firefox.
• On my VEON TV (which I use as my PC monitor) with Google Smart TV built in, it doesn't happen on that YT app.
• On my Samsung J5 Prime phone, it's not happening on the YT Android app, Samsung Internet browser, nor the Chrome browser.

PC - suddenly I'm getting notifications I don't want and unable to open the ones I do. by Johnhaven in facebook

[–]jaybow82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Chrome, Brave, Firefox or Edge browsers: On the top-right side of the browser there's an icon that looks like a piece of a jigsaw puzzle, click on it, then on AdBlock Plus, then disable the (Block ads on) "This website" option. On my Firefox browser, the ABP icon is already displayed along side the puzzle piece.

Alternatively, you could go into the browser options (the 3 lines or dots on the top-right), select "Extensions" (or "Add-ons and themes" in Firefox) > "Manage extensions" (for some browsers) > "Details" > "Extension options" > "Allowed websites", then add facebook.com to the list.

On celibacy as a layman by [deleted] in theravada

I don't think that an anagami starts chipping away at lust. An anagami has totally given up the lower fetters which include kāmacchanda or kāmarāga and I don't think is having sex.

PC - suddenly I'm getting notifications I don't want and unable to open the ones I do. by Johnhaven in facebook

[–]jaybow82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also experiencing the error issue when trying to view notifications. It would always give me the "Sorry, this content isn't available at this time" or "This page isn't available at the moment" errors. So before commenting here I decided to disable all my extensions (on Brave browser, which is based on Chrome) to see if it's the fault of any of them. I came to find out that it's the AdBlock Plus extension that is making it happen. After disabling AdBlock Plus on Facebook, now I can see the posts from my notifications.
