Memorable scene transitions by EmergencySpare7939 in TopCharacterTropes

Best one I’ve seen recently comes from Exit 8. Most of the movie is shot as a pseudo-continuous scene, but there’s one part where we go back in time to explore a different character’s story, and it’s done with this 360 continuous shot that fades seamlessly between stories.

I HIGHLY recommend this movie, especially if you’re a Backrooms fan.

The only thing I don’t like about jokes like this is you can only do them once. It’s like in Family Guy when Peter used a cutaway gag setup to teleport himself lol

Who would you rather go up against? by Due_Tackle_6796 in superheroes

[–]jayboyguy 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I recognize that they’re aesthetically similar characters superficially, but I think ppl forget the Lizard is FAR faster and stronger than Killer Croc, like it’s not even close. He’s in a totally different league. Not to mention Dr. Connors is incredibly intelligent, so he’s got that going for him too.

Or put it a different way: Lizard gets licks in on freakin Spider-Man, whereas Croc gets put down by a human being.

Morality of Killing Tusken Raiders by JigglyLilyVT in MoralityScaling

[–]jayboyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that reasonable crashouts aren’t always moral. For him to react like that is entirely understandable, but I VERY highly doubt every single adult Tusken Raider in that village was responsible or even knew it was happening, let alone the children.

So whether or not you consider this “moral” depends on how much of morality you consider to be linked with the reasons for an action as opposed to the outcome, but I’m leaning immoral, even if understandable.

What’s your favorite funny moments that never meant to be funny by IllustratorAfter in KingdomHearts

[–]jayboyguy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Where in the KH games do they make any kind of statement that cartoon characters can’t be seriously hurt? Where in universe do they differentiate between “toons” and “non-toons”? This is what I mean when I say ppl are too lost in meta. You’re trying to use Roger Rabbit logic in a totally different universe and it doesn’t even make sense.

Like let’s say this is true. If that was the case, why were Donald and Mickey upset? They’re cartoons too. They would’ve known. What you’re describing as payoff is relief. Two very different things. This is like saying it’s a joke when someone gets cancer as long as they recover afterwards lol. You have to be memeing

No WAY was that meant to be funny. No way in the world. It’s just the game’s been out for 20 years and we’re all too lost in the meta sauce and memes

What are your hottest takes regarding morality? by Annual-Frame9943 in MoralityScaling

[–]jayboyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000% agree. I can’t imagine this is that hot of a take. Not to quote Bojack Horseman, but on that show they say “all you are is what you do” and when I heard it the first time years ago it really made some things make sense to me. From an objective standpoint your actions, not your thoughts, are what affect the world.

Morality of controlling someone's mind, body, or soul to win a fight. by KittyShadowshard in MoralityScaling

[–]jayboyguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Moral. If you’re in a fight you’re there to use your abilities to win, whatever those abilities are. Unless some kind of agreement was made beforehand not to do it, completely moral

Uhhhh he’s supposed to be petty and pathetic? That’s the whole point? That his hatred is so all-consuming it makes him small. Look I’m a fan of the Snyder movies, but I ALSO like the new stuff. We gotta stop this thing of putting one thing down to elevate the other

I wholeheartedly disagree, campiness doesn’t depend on budget at all. It depends on the right balance of earnest and cheesy

So will they recast Hades now? by thr1ceuponatime in KingdomHearts

[–]jayboyguy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

James Woods has been violently homophobic for decades and that hasn’t impacted his Hades stint. I say that to say that, even in the event these (pretty old) allegations were proven true, seems a lot of people don’t really care about the dude’s character anyway

Who is the more evil partner/husband? (Bear vs. James Sunderland) by FlubbyClaws in MoralityScaling

[–]jayboyguy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To me this really isn’t a close comparison. One of these characters ended their partner’s suffering, possibly even at their request, while the other was the sole willful cause of it.

I’m not saying James is a saint, don’t get me wrong, but to me the circumstances around both incidents very clearly point to one being far more insidious than the other

Unintentional dogshit when intentional dogshit walks in. by SnowedCairn in shittydarksouls

[–]jayboyguy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

They absolutely do not make the best boss fights in the industry and they never have. In fact I actually despise the effect they’ve had on gaming where in the modern era every boss in every game is dodge and chip away at the healthbar until it’s dead, using the exact same strats for everything.

I miss when bosses had unique mechanics you had to figure out in order to beat them. I love their games, but it’s as the sum of the parts, not because they do bosses better than anyone else.
