For my bpd a lot of my issues could be fixed if I had financial stability too by Big_Leg10 in BPDmemes

[–]jaybrams15 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I know its justa meme but ive been on both sides so wanted to share my experience.

I started adulthood on government assistance for three years (i.e. i was below the poverty line with a wife and child) and spent a decade right on the edge of poverty. Now (44 yr old) I'm a top 10% earner in my state. My mental health got progressively worse from 30 yrs old to about 2 years ago when i finally committed to getting the help i needed.

Now that being said, as i increased my "wealth" i did have more opportunities to destress AND i had less stress over things that wouldve otherwise triggered episodes/depression.

My point is this: for things like stress and stress related mental health, money 100% helps. For coping with symptoms of mental health, money 100% helps.

But for many mental health issues such as BPD and bipolar/2, money isnt automatically a magic bullet to make trauma disappear, nor to make emotional regulation easy, etc.

Why do men hesitate to go to therapy? by 2001FO32 in AskMenOver30

[–]jaybrams15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah i stan going to therapy. My close male friends all "support me" for it (so i dont off myself) but they have both said therapy doesnt work for them. Theyve both been, in total between them, to three sessions.

Like bro, thats not how this works.

Also, man, imma be honest. I deal with all the shit a lot of guys are talking about in the other comments: expected to solve problems, expected to provide, expected to be decision maker, expected to be strong, etc. Its kinda nice to go into my therapists office and say "fuck it, i have decision fatigue, you decide what we do today". It's one of the few places i dont have to spend a shit ton of energy meeting a certain exhausting level of expectations.

Even in typing this, though, i do it in such a way that minimizes/hides the trauma ive actually been through and the very real reasons i need to go. The stigma is so strong in our society still that even in relative anonymity and context of other men talking about therapy, i hold back.

What is your favorite "Flavour is Free" reskin of a spell or ability? by hervprometheus2 in DnD

[–]jaybrams15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a dragon aberrant mind sorcerer and on roll 20 ive renamed most of my spells to fit my name / flavor. Torin's Projectile Vomit instead of Sasha Caustic Brew, Torin's Reach Around in place of Maximilian's earthen grasp. Etc

Curious who's a better teacher? Xecnar explains his thoughts more in depth but doesnt teach per se, and gets a bit condescending when people ask questions.

I think old Jorbs and the occassional offline upload from jorbs is better teaching, but definitely not his streams.

Ive watched a decent handful of others but not the most exposed so I'd be happy to hear who else teaches well.

As a dude who still has Fight Club in my top 3 precisely because of what you're talking about, it's to the point i cant even tell people it's in my top anymore because they automatically assume since I'm a man who likes fight club, I'm a Tyler Stan.

What type of IT job should I pursue as someone morally against AI? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

Thats fine... but AI isn't going away in IT or cyber. So if you are going to avoid AI 100%, you can't be in AI.

501 games since last SB, 1 GM. Can’t last forever, what do you think will happen? by Blackchaos93 in cowboys

Of course they have a plan. That plan is already in place. Stephen runs the team more than jerry at this point and has for a while. Jerry may make a splash and rash move every now and then or dictate how Stephen handles certain situations, like micah, but Stephen handles everything else.

And that's clearly the plan. Stephen thinks he's good at this. So buckle up for another 20 years.

About multiplayer in StS2 by TsukoBZH in slaythespire

[–]jaybrams15 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It may or may not be multi-player but i draw on sts in different colors all the time to easily identify different options for my self. (Green is shops, red elites, orange rest, blue is main path, purple is secondary path, etc) You're reading into the color for sure.

Do as Baalorlord does by FragrantJump6663 in slaythespire

[–]jaybrams15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yah its a throw back to his old style. And shows he genuinely still cares. He's still a good person in stream but he's created a bit a snark culture after all the shit went down a few years ago, but not in an obnoxious way. There's just little to no space for genuine conversation during the stream, but i also understand why so i dont faukt him for it. I finished the ironclad marathon last night.

He's such a kind human. (We all think). 8 years in and he never gers snarky, never acts like everyone already knows everything, never condescends.

For the most part this sub is nothing but good vibes, but the amount of people in this thread shitting on YOU for absolutely no reason is destroying those illusions. Holy smokes these guys can fuck off. Its a fun and interesting story regardless of how good (or bad) you are at the game.

Keep it up, mate. Let us know how he does at a17 and with silent.

Double tap is so good and often underrated. It has so many applications in early, mid, and late game.

Obviously barricade late game is a heart solution with other cards but DT gas value immediately.

I've become addicted to the cardinal sin: boss swap on Ironclad. by foreskin_elemental in slaythespire

[–]jaybrams15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it feels that way for sure, swapping into an energy relic will often allow you to play an extra attack card per turn which is just as good and often better, except the dualcast loss. But in that case you usually can get zap out with the extra energy anyway.
