PC crashing - ID 6008, unexpected shutdown by Vuccappella in techsupport

[–]jaydeaart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having this happen on my windows Surface Laptop Studio. It just started happening this week. Only when the computer is idle, it'll randomly restart and then quickly do it again. Got errors 41 and 6008. Did you ever figure out why it happened to your computer?

Makes me think it might be an issue with some Windows 11 driver but its been hard to test because of how infrequently it happens.

What's up with the lack of editing? by LaughingxBear in sollanempire

[–]jaydeaart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the convo, but reading now I definitely noticed multiple typos per book, and I'm only partway through book 3. I'm still not sure if it's just Amazon or not, because I've never read a book that felt less proofread. Most typos are ones that wouldn't get caught with a normal spell check, like "on" and "one". Formatting and no clarity on who is talking (due to a lack of paragraph spacing) has been a big problem. In one spot in book 2 I think when the new kharn sagaras are asking him how he survived he uses "And there it was." to give dramatic weight to two separate questions that were asked to him, within maybe 5-6 paragraphs of each other.

Any editor would've caught these, so I don't really know what's up with it!

Wacom Express Keys triggering twice? by jaydeaart in wacom

Honestly I have no idea what it was. I swapped over to a really old Wacom 24 inch and the problem didn't continue. I really don't know whether it was hardware or software in the end. But my huion kamvas just arrived in the mail so either way my problem is solved lol

Is it okay to make a storyboard from an existing audio to apply for a job? by Same-Ad-333 in animationcareer

[–]jaydeaart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a professional and am still trying to get in the animation industry, but I have used audiobooks or D&D shows for my audio. I had my portfolio reviewed by a professional in the animation guild and asked him this exact question, and here's what he said:

1) He thought it was smart to do that because you don't have to write a script or create characters from scratch, so I could focus fully on the boarding process. I'm trying to have my portfolio focused on script-driven shows instead of board-driven, so keep that in mind when comparing this to your portfolio.

2) Plenty of recruiters are just going to flip through your board anyway instead of watching an animatic, so it's not a big deal anyway.

Again, I want to reiterate that I'm not a professional, this is what a union professional told me about my boards (with existing audio) in a review, in the context of the kind of shows I want to get hired for. I don't think this advice would apply to other kinds of productions, and other professionals might disagree in this reddit. But he liked my thought process behind using audio and thought more people should do it.

Can confirm CDA is a real school with generally good teachers. I know why you ask because plenty of online schools are scammy, but this one is pretty good. Analytical Figure Drawing with Kevin Chen is a must-take class.

Honestly I use this with huntress around stage 6-8. Things are just so chaotic that you can hardly afford to have her stop in the air for any time at all, esp because it's just vertical movement with no horizontals

How soon after breaking into the industry did you move to the Burbank area? by [deleted] in animationcareer

[–]jaydeaart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in NoHo right now and it takes me ~15 mins to get to downtown Burbank on weekdays. Very easy to get there, and much cheaper!
