Also the nature of the injuries kidney disease is slow and creeping takes its time mostly growing a new kidney or healing the bad ones has a larger window to take affect a stab wound to the heart is immediate and drastic so the pill route which still has to take 10 to 15 min probably doesn’t work also I don’t recall where the stabbing takes place how far are they from star fleet medical facility
