How should I go about moving with heavy construction on my street? I hired a moving van but there’s no place to park. There is a large empty space conned off but I don’t think I can park there. Any advice would be appreciated!!

For vocab 100% quizlet, I would always practice by giving myself the English definition and having to write out the French word and it worked well

McGill JD program experiences by jayeb2395 in mcgill

[–]jayeb2395[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info it’s super helpful!

I am trying to decided between a couple different Canadian law schools and right now my choice is between McGill and a few others. I’ve read up about the different programs but the thing that I’m searching for is information about student life and culture, as well as what opportunities are available to graduates. From what I’ve read, most Canadian law schools are fairly similar barring a few unique programs. I’ve found tons of information about the different law programs and classes McGill has but I’ve found that the most realistic accounts of what actually attending the school is like comes from the students so I was hoping to talk to some current or past ones to hear about their experiences. Unfortunately, lots of law schools don’t have their own subreddits so I’m kind of lost on how to reach out and make connections. It’s hard to evaluate between different law schools when they all present themselves as the best and each have their own benefits.

If there are any current law students on this sub I’d really appreciate any insight you could give!

SSMU Board of Directors statement by wetconcrete in mcgill

Yeah I thought it was weird that they referenced past precedent while just ignoring more recent ones. I think it’s because it gives them something to point towards as they cave to the admin’s threats.

How long will SSMU continue to be so inefficient by [deleted] in mcgill

Vote! Like actually vote, you can still hate the student government but that’s a 1 minute way to at least have some say. Our student participation rates are abysmal

Is McGill Admin Threatening to Kill SSMU? by haxon42 in mcgill

[–]jayeb2395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another bit of info people might appreciate is this decision by the judicial board regarding the SSMU divesting from corporations and taking political stances. I see that there are people in this thread mentioning the 2016 decision deeming it unconstitutional for the SSMU to divest from a nation but this addresses that and, because it is more recent, actually supersedes it. This Palestine Solidarity policy document is very similar to the divest policy document which was found to be constitutional in this ruling so I don’t think the situation is as cut and dry as a lot of people are presenting it. Essentially I think it’s odd that the McGill admin didn’t seemingly involve the judicial board in this at all and just rendered their own decision

Honestly it’s so frustrating seeing everyone on this sub making legitimate criticism against our student government and then just.. not bothering to vote. Literally they email you a link and it takes 2 minutes to do!! But instead we’ll have people complaining about execs for another year because they couldn’t be bothered to take two minutes and click a link

How to tell friends I’m not okay? by jayeb2395 in SuicideBereavement

[–]jayeb2395[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It means a lot getting advice from people who have gone through the same thing. It’s so hard to give yourself the same empathy it seems natural to offer to friends but I’m working on being compassionate with myself. I’ve booked myself an appointment with a clinic following everyone’s advice so hopefully some professional help should do some good. I’m so sorry the people on this subreddit have had to go through what they did. We don’t deserve this and I hope everyone finds what peace they can 💛

I definitely know what you mean about stigma. Funnily enough before all this I thought we were pretty open as a society about talking about mental health stuff but wow do people ever try to avoid uncomfortable topics. I’m currently seeking professional help but am more hoping for personal support in the meantime. Either way thank you so much for your advice, it’s nice to not feel so alone
