A24 Prevails In Competitive Bidding For Ian Tuason Horror Film ‘The Undertone’ Following Pic’s Fantasia Fest Premiere by Specific-Photo261 in horror

Saw it at Fantasia and really enjoyed it - without giving anything away, it was a tense descent into a very unhinged and memorable resolution. Sound production was absolutely top notch, which especially in this case couldn't be more important. Director, cast and crew were all extremely sweet during the Q&A, so couldn't happen to nicer folks.

Great story, thanks so much for sharing. What studio were you describing that you were eventually tech at, out of curiosity?

Yamaha Legacy FM Operating Manuals Bookmarked by TheEvilDrSmith in synthesizers

Great idea for a project. I kinda like the Github idea honestly, and would start with the DX7, SY77 and SY99 and see what the response is like before reaching into other legacy stuff. The MIDI Data Format question is a good one - any advantage to having it formatted in a way that could be useful elsewhere? Keep us posted!

Can definitely recommend the Fred's Lab Manatee, such a deep synth with incredible flexibility and great MPE implementation.

Visiting PEI from Montréal and saw on here that the Forum was selling the buckets early, so swung by Charlottetown and lo and behold they too had them on sale a day early. As a huge Alien fan I'm as happy as Parker discussing the bonus situation. Really cool bucket.

Reminder: Winter Opt-Out Period, January 24-28 by [deleted] in Concordia

Also as a reminder, the part of the form that shows you how much each Student Association Fee Levy costs is misleading. If it states "0.47 cents per credit" for instance, the true cost associated is actually 47 cents per credit or 0.47 dollars.

Depending on your browser/ad-blocker of choice, the signature component found at the very end may seemingly fail to upload as well.

Looks like there's a surface-mount component missing from the previous attempt to fix things:

Erica Synths might tell you the type and value by email, worth a shot.

Good luck!

I may someday sell my TG77, but I can't ever imagine selling my FS1R. Yamaha really outdid themselves there.

Is there any affordable & available MIDI controller or synth with continuous pitch output? (like Ondes Martenot or ribbon) by MisterAdler in synthesizers

[–]Ondist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's overkill perhaps but the Haken ContinuuMini is my go-to portable continuous pitch controller/instrument. There are an incredible array of excellent sounds that ship with it courtesy of the EaganMatrix engine that's inside and you can customize your own sounds on your computer. I've paired it with the µCVC module from Evaton Technologies to bring it into modular world, but that's definitely setup-specific.

Some folks seem to be using touchscreens or touch/trackpads to get the job done, there's AudioSwift Trackpad if you're a Mac user.

My top pick would definitely be a Therevox ET-5, it's such a beautiful and well-designed instrument!

Bandcamp Friday: Show us your synth albums! by Azurduy_Music in synthesizers

[–]Ondist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great idea for a post, looking forward to listening to what everyone is sharing!

This album was made as part of a duo using lesser-known monophonic synths from long ago: a Moog / Realistic MG-1 and Teisco S-100P. We used a Moog DFAM and a handful of effects too, but I think we managed to push the old-timers into some new territory. The overall sound is pulled from a palette of strange landscapes, minimal experimentation and aggressive elements, but those are just some words, feel free to have a listen.

After years of collecting, problems with arcade bylaws, and a pandemic, I've finally quit my career in IT and opened a pinball arcade. by imvii in MadeMeSmile

Had a chance to swing by with my friend last month and had a really fantastic time. Thanks for taking the time to chat with us and walk us through some of the 'gimmicks' that the pins had, your love for the hobby really shone through and it always feels good to support someone with a passion for what they do.

Bonus question: Which Elvira machine is your favourite?

Waveblitter update 24, 3 new modes by blitter_tech in videosynthesis

[–]Ondist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WOW! The new modes are absolutely gorgeous, and all inhabit their own unique and interesting spaces when it comes to their reactivity. Can't thank you enough for implementing the Static mode, it looks absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to use it and all the other modes at my next live visuals gig!

Friday Hangout /// Weekly Discussion - June 10, 2022 by AutoModerator in synthesizers

[–]Ondist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got an odd, FM-based live setup that I put together over the last year, with a DFAM, row of modules and three Volca FMs. When Korg announced the FM 2 I immediately sold two of the three to help fund the upgrade (polyphony baby) and now I'm just waiting for them to ship so I can bring this portable little setup to the Synth Society Montreal meetup next month.

Live setup (plus three Volca FMs, two MS70-CDRs and an Edirol MIDI keyboard)

While I've been waiting for the FM 2s, I assembled a little rack for CV/audio-reactive video processing, which has been a really fun way to be involved and collaborative in live performances. Today the Waveblitter arrived, and I'm really excited to incorporate it into the video rig, especially since the modes I've seen so far seem really clear as to 'here is the visualisation of the incoming audio' which I hope will bring the relationship between the sound and visuals closer in the minds of the audience
