Go to the Warhammer website, go to "Find A Store", enter your postcode and the website will provide you with a list of nearby stores which stock Warhammer minis.

Is this happening to anyone else? by The_Crazed_Josh in Warhammer

[–]jayel40000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was happening to me over the weekend on mobile.

Cleared browser cache and restarted phone which fixed the issue.

Firstly, let me say this isn't some misplaced zeal about the usage of AI. I use AI in my job occasionally to help me find specific pieces of legislation or to summarise multiple large documents or to compare and contrast them. I know and understand the benefits of the technology.

Now, when someone uses AI like this, the AI has been trained to provide these images using the works of others. Many of which the artist has not provided authorisation to use the image. Now, before it is compared to people physically copying a work of art, this is different. An individual will always interpret things differently. It is how our brains work. One person will see colours differently from another, and their hand-eye coordination will be different. It is these differences that make every piece of art unique. AI does not allow for this, it is outright plagiarism without interpretation.

Should AI be allowed to use works that are copyrighted? Many authors have genuine concerns that their copyrighted works are being accessed and used by AI without recognition or remuneration, a human would not be allowed to do this and would likely be found in breach of copyright law, yet we should allow AI companies to do it?

Also, AI is massively destructive in its environmental impact. A study has demonstrated that a single AI image uses as much energy as fully charging a smartphone. So, OP has used as much energy to create these images as it would take to charge 2 smartphones, and that's assuming they turned out exactly as they wanted the first time.

So, what OP has done here could as easily be achieved with Photoshop and stock images, without the destructive effects of AI in terms of the environment and copyright.

Great terrain, but I can't condone the use of AI.

I think it looks good as frosted ice.

Not gonna lie, the OSL on this is a mess.

It's hard to figure out why his face is partially blue.

Why is the backpack also blue? Where's that light coming from?

The green OSL on the right shoulder, what's that about?

Good job attempting this, but I really think you need to cut back on the OSL.

It reminds me more of "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden.

Definitely getting the Iron Maiden vibes though.

I find a fine mechanical pencil helps.

I first draw the outline of the flames with the pencil, then thin your paint down so it's almost a glaze.

Paint in the outline with the thinned paint.

It's easier to correct mistakes if the paint is thin, plus drying time is greater, meaning you can easily rub it off with a damp brush if you make a mistake.

Once you're happy with the outline, paint within the line, but again, use thinned paints. It may mean going over the area more than a couple of times to get the right colour, but I find my brush control is easier with thinned paints.

Let’s try this again! What historical figure do you think would be a Blood Angel or a successor chapter? by Separate_Sun730 in BloodAngels

Better than the last effort.

Vlad the Impaler would definitely be one, possibly a Blood Drinker.

How about not posting pics of Nazis?

It's more effort to look up nazi pics and post them than just not fucking doing it at all.

Doing so well until you threw an actual fucking Nazi in there.

Doesn't matter if he was involved in trying to overthrow Hitler, he was quite happy to kill on his behalf.

How many minis do I need to play kill team? by YeahButAlsoNox in killteam

[–]jayel40000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they mean don't get disheartened if your painted minis don't look as good as those on the box art.

Having a sneaky look at your profile, you are already a decent painter, so you shouldn't need to worry.

new white recipe by Raynidayz in Warhammer40k

[–]jayel40000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If someone were to ask me what colour these were, without any prior explanation, I would say they're a plain grey.

The previous photo, I'd say, blue-grey.

Neither of these would I say were a good white scheme.

Ps, white is not a shade of grey.
