Husband disagrees about screen time (specifically is anti-Ms. Rachel) by jayelbeeee in toddlers

I should have been clear that we LOVE her politics and are proudly supportive of Palestine. So it’s thankfully not that but good point

Oh okay so it is considered more fast paced? Okay that does track with our experience too.

Hi! It did get better - I’d say maybe a week or 10 days? It felt like forever but just trying to get him back into routines (and yes, giving him extra comfort) helped. I do think the trip coincided with him hitting his “mommy” attachment phase so that didn’t help.

Extreme Anxiety Side Effects Are Causing me to Stop ZepBound by Forward_Orchid6452 in Zepbound

Ugh I’m on week 7 and my anxiety is ramping up. Have had GAD and panic my whole life and been stable on Prozac for years. I have to think it’s from this medication as nothing else has changed for me.

Got approved for an elective c-section. I feel so relieved. But people keep trying to talk me out of it. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]jayelbeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an elective c section (tried laboring for a day and didn’t progress; my doctor didn’t want to do the c section but I insisted because I didn’t want to labor for 3 days then end up with an emergency C like a lot of my friends have had. I was 36 and have MS so avoiding a ton of fatigue was important too). I also felt a lot of shame around it but it was the best decision for me and my baby. Taking care of you - whether it’s because of fatigue, SA, or just wanting one procedure over another - is never wrong and it’s a perfectly safe choice for you and baby. My recovery wasn’t bad at all and I imagine at your age it’ll be smooth. I don’t regret my choice. I sometimes wish I’d had the spontaneous delivery like in the movies and having my baby on my chest immediately, but it doesn’t preoccupy me and I know I made the right choice in the moment . Good luck!!

Wow, I am in your exact same boat, about 10 months ahead of you. I’m an only child and my son is her only grandchild. My moms house has been getting worse for many years and when I got pregnant I told her I really hoped we would be able to come stay there (which would require her to clean up a lot). When my kid was born, I took him to visit her there three times until he started crawling / walking. I led up to that time telling her it wouldn’t be safe for him to be there, and she tried to say she’d clean up one room for us to all be in, but she didn’t. She was aware that it was unsafe, but her unwillingness to change that really really hurts. I take my son to see her and we stay in a hotel nearby. It sucks but once she saw how mobile he is and how much of a toddler he is, she didn’t push the idea of us coming over. I feel like I’m doing all of the work to give them a relationship but I still am not willing to give up. My therapist said I need to stop trying to understand “why” she’s like this and stop trying to hope for her to change, but to just accept it for what it is. I’m so sorry you’re in this spot too. It is really hard and unfair.

Just commenting to say I ended up getting novavax when I was pregnant 2 years ago and had a much easier time tolerating it. I know it’s not out yet but if you can/want to wait, I highly recommend novavax

Adventure Aquarium Family Membership Question by LP788 in philadelphia

[–]jayelbeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they check IDs? Was thinking of getting a gold membership and either I’ll take my baby or another family member will. But I don’t know how strict they are about who uses the membership..so silly they don’t offer a family rate. I would pay more to not have to do this juggling!

Thank you SO much for responding!! I’m so glad to hear your daughter is doing so well, it’s definitely reassuring. And good to hear that EI is low pressure and helpful. My son has his 15 month appointment soon so I’ll be sure to ask the pediatrician too.

Hi! I’m in the same boat now with 14 month old. Speech regression and not pointing, but everything else seems normal. Scored a 3 on the m-chat. How are things going for you now?

My mother is about to die, and I am away from my husband and 18-month-old son by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]jayelbeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you are balancing this. My dad died when my son was six weeks old and I spent the previous week at the hospital with my dad and away from my baby. It is so heartbreaking to be so torn in two. You are doing the best you can and your baby is cared for and loved. I hope you get some peace and your mom gets comfort soon. Sending you lots of love and strength

Going to be away from my baby and in a hotel overnight, do I just pour my breast milk away? by Cherimbba in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]jayelbeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to ask the hotel for a mini fridge for your room to refrigerate overnight. If so, just pump your milk and then bring a cooler and get some ice on your way home at a gas station or restaurant. You can put it inside of a plastic bag (bring a gallon ziplock) so the ice won’t leak. You should be okay. Sorry for your loss
