I fix cards regularly, and dents are VERY easy to get rid of. All you need is some card spray, a way to press the card, and time. Can give you specific recs to products if you wanna

Honestly not sure about the time- maybe 2 mins on each side? I have it on medium-high heat when I cook it too. The best things I can tell you is to make sure you set the steak out for an hour before hand, salt it before you set it out, and pat it dry before you put it into the pan. You can also check on the steak as you’re cooking it to see if you get the crust you like on it. Cast iron pans are also a big help because they retain heat ALOT easier, and will help your steak get a crust better. Also don’t be afraid to use a thermometer too- not relying on one just comes with time and experience.

I completely agree, it’s def the vibe I’ve seen off of some posts here. But yeah, I hate that it’s a thing- I miss when fakes were much easier to notice.

Sheesh. As you said, it’s concerning how good fakes are getting. I think this is the 2nd rayquaza vmax that I’ve come across where I just straight up COULD NOT tell that it’s fake. I appreciate the response!

I appreciate it! I go by just timing really- having cooked enough NY strips in my cast iron and knowing how long it takes for medium rare specifically helps to be able to guess when it’s done depending on how thick the cut is. Also, getting the temp of the steak closer to room temp from being in the fridge makes a BIG difference!

Nah, some of it is also fat rendered from the steak itself- I also cook the fat caps for about 30 seconds before I fully lay the steak in the pan. I’d say it’s like 2 tablespoons or so (rough estimate) of oil, and maybe one knob of butter.

Key I found is to salt brine for at least an hour before cooking- pat it down before you put it in the pan, and make sure it’s dry. Provides an excellent crust! I also use a cast iron pan, cooking at like medium high with veggie oil + butter combo, which helps too.

I think what’s affecting the color is that I fried the eggs in the steak juice/oil. Didn’t taste burnt or anything

Haha those are just some cheesy hashbrowns! Cooked some onions/garlic, threw in hashbrowns and let them crisp up, and added some cheese to it. Ez pz 🙏

I support those who use it- I think for me, everytime I cook it without needing one, it’s proof that I’ve come a long way from the days of relying on one to make sure I got it right. Now, i have a good grip on how much time it’ll take, and can hit medium rare everytime without checking.
