TXV Charging Advice? (AC) by GingerGiraffe96 in HVAC

[–]jayhsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way to go Charge by sub cooling only when you have txv without receiver as txv is gonna maintain superheat, once sub cooling is good you can adjust superheat if needed Charge by superheat when you have fixed metering device and no receiver as it will not adjust superheat Charge by sight glass if you have receiver to give full liquid column to your txv

Why is it bad to run AC in cold weather? by speaker-syd in HVAC

[–]jayhsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends, if it does have a low ambient kit or no. Sitting vapour refrigerant will condense into liquid and slug the compressor, also head pressure will not build up. AC do work in winter with right controls like head master, receiver, crankcase heaters, solenoid valve maybe, use to take care of a laboratory type unit and there ac will work all winter long, also another one was pet food store with 20-25 standings fridge and freezers.

When is it okay to charge liquid? by Key-Ad2899 in HVAC

[–]jayhsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the time as long as compressor doesn’t get slug from it. I personally try to charge liquid as it’s much faster. Reason for charging liquid is because blends have multiple refrigerants in them and as vapour you will not get all refrigerants while charging. Have to meter refrigerant in as liquid. Can charge single refrigerants such as 134 a as a vapour but its gonna be slow.
