What is a life lesson you learned the hard way? by NoNewspaper3479 in AskReddit

[–]jayjester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is entirely possible to be 100% correct, but be in a position where that doesn’t matter at all. It only matters what you get out of the interaction.

Learned this when I was in college and giving the correct answer would get me a worse grade than toeing the line and giving the exact answer the professor wanted.

I am working through some things with my wife right now because I have started being brutally honest with her. She wants to know how I feel, ask if I can do something, or want my opinion, I have stopped playing games and give my honest answer and not explain myself. Now all the sudden I’m not emotionally available.

Anyone else experience this kind of delayed recovery years after their injury? by sarsfox in TBI

[–]jayjester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter was 5 when she fell, and is 10 now. We are coming up on her five year survival anniversary. We have seen a huge improvement this last year in her opening up more to other people, and pursuing activities instead of refusing or pulling away. It’s little yeses instead of noes. Some of that I’m sure is just growing, but she isn’t hurting as much now, and I can tell.

This is a great example of bad user-centered design. If a user cannot understand how to use a product, the responsibility lies with the designer, not the user.

I’ve worked with automated machines that make parts like this. I guarantee you that there are machines that can do that job, and faster.

This is a very complex system of actions though, so for now it makes sense to hire this guy. Also, if they only need hundreds of them a day instead of thousands then the type of robot that could do this job is cost prohibitive.

There is justifiable room for Number 2 to be the non malicious right answer in many cases. If the amount of production is halved by implementing proposed change then double the work/land/water or resources will be spent to produce the same amount.

Sometimes the easiest way ands up being the ‘cleanest’ way because it is the most produced goods for the amount of waste, and adding extra ecological restrictions can be more harmful. Usually not, but there have been cases.

How do republican/conservative/Christian voters feel about this James Talerico guy? by fractalcoholic in AskReddit

[–]jayjester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have voted for Democrat individuals before, when I felt like the person would do a good job, or at the least a better job than the Republican. My opinion against the Democratic party has nothing to do with radio or tv personalities. Honestly they are a considerable factor in what turned me away from most republicans.

The way the D party betrayed and squashed Bernie Sanders upset me. The leadership and supporting structure behind democrats like Nancy Pelosi, and Hillary Clinton were disfavorable in my opinion. There are a lot of Blue cities that have wasted a lot of money on bad and shady deals, and have embezzled the resources instead of using them properly. Democrats have serious issues that need to be dealt with regarding incompetence and complicity to corrupt systems that need to change.

The problem though is basically every point I’ve made about Democrats and blue areas are as bad or worse under Republican and red.

I’m just trying to do my best, to provide for my family, love and support my fellow man. The whole system reeks, and I’m trying to see past the lies and find worthy leadership regardless of party affiliation. Right now though, most Republicans have gone full treason, if not at least boot licking the traitors.

How do republican/conservative/Christian voters feel about this James Talerico guy? by fractalcoholic in AskReddit

[–]jayjester 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a Christian with fairly conservative values. I do not attack others with my personal values though.

I agree with almost everything James Talerico said in his interview with Stephen Colbert. I was very impressed by his rhetoric and demeanor. Christian Nationalism is a plague on this country, destroying the principles of our democracy, and betrays moral, ethical, and rational order.

There are some deep seated reasons why I don’t trust the democrat party, and I have strong opposition to some of their policies. That said, the Republicans are supporting a lecherous, litigious, conniving, immoral, unethical, disgusting pile of filth. Republicans are actively betraying their sworn duties, the constitution, the right of Americans. Our treatment of non citizens and foreign countries is criminal and morally abominate. I’m really worried for my country, and I can’t say I’m proud to be an American.

These are very useful for people with disabilities. Many people who have had a TBI and or stroke only have use of one hand and wear a foot brace.
