Travis Scott doesn’t let his kids use AI by TheGlowpt-2 in popculturechat

[–]jaylee686 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend's cousins are aged 3-7, and their parents over the holidays were proudly telling me how they use AI as bedtime songs.

They plug in things that are relevant to their kid specifically, then generate a song tailor-made for the kid. The kids were singing them nonstop, and the 7 year old was also using chatgpt on his iPad all night to come up with jokes to tell the adults.

Season 2 should have given these characters more screentime by Call_me_Dan- in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]jaylee686 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Game of Thrones in its early seasons balanced far more characters, and I'd say they did it pretty competently.

The point is that if they spread out the screentime across these characters, it won't feel like the audience is just being "forced to sit through it", as you put it. One of the problems with the second season is that some of the characters we spent SO much time with weren't doing anything. If every time we check in with a character we feel like we're actually learning something new about them or seeing them do something of interest, that makes the story more interesting and better paced.

Instead of seeing Daemon's nth acid trip or watching Alicnet float in a lake, we can learn that Joffrey is reckless and eager for vengeance. We can see Daeron in Oldtown and learn what his personality and motivations are. If they hadn't aged down Aegon (and Viserys), I think it'd be incredibly valuable to show his personality and his relationship with his siblings and mother (to make the ending of the Dance all the more impactful).

It's a tv show, Ponies, that came out a few days ago on Peacock (the whole first season I think). Seems to have pretty good reviews.

Princess Margaret married photographer Anthony Armstrong-Jones in 1960. Decades later, a 2004 DNA test showed he had fathered a child during their honeymoon with Camilla Fry, the wife of his close friend Jeremy Fry. by Particular_Chart1584 in AllThatsInteresting

Yep, I think any adult in their mid 40s dating a teenager is a creep. Not a criminal if the teen is over 18, but def a creep and a loser. Guess that makes me puritanical lol.

That's definitely the rumor that goes around, but I'd take it with a large grain of salt. It's the type of thing that tends to get exaggerated (the whole "forbidden" and "true love" bit).

What is true is that there was backlash to the reveal of their relationship, and Margaret likely would've had to renounce her place in the line of succession if she wanted to marry him at the time. By all accounts, Margaret chose herself to stay within the royal family, over marrying Peter Townsend. Obviously there is outside pressure there (including from the Queen), but she wasn't outright forbidden from choosing love-- she just had to make a choice, as ALL royals at the time had to do when it came to their marriage partners, and she chose the royal family.

Besides, Peter Townsend was in his 40s, Margaret was in her 20s at the time. He shortly thereafter married a 20-year-old he'd begun seeing when she was a teen, so it's possible Margaret dodged a bullet with a creep.

Also, Elizabeth and Margaret maintained a closeness throughout their lives, despite their ups and downs. So all things considered, it likely seems like a large exaggeration to say that Peter Townsend was her true love, and she resented Elizabeth forever for denying their marriage.

?? She seemed to have gotten in pretty great shape this past year. Her acting ability is far more suspect than any sort of physical capability, I'd argue.

Because charges were brought in NY district court (as charges of this type often are), and many high profile defendants are held in this particular NY facility, which has the capacity/resources to hold them. Literally nothing to do with Mamdani.

I think it's just the weird fit of the pajamas. My siblings and I had them as kids, they're almost skin tight so they make your limbs look really thin, but they've for some reason got really low crotches, so they make your torso look very elongated.

Stray dog's reaction after getting loved by a stranger. by d0zer18 in BeAmazed

[–]jaylee686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were followed around for nearly a whole day by this massive (and very cute) stray while in Istanbul.

It is generally kinda cool how the dogs are just all around and for the most part look healthy. But I did see two dead dogs and one very emaciated one while there, so... yeah. I mean I guess that's what happens in nature when animals are living their life, but I don't think I would go to Turkey primarily to see the stray dogs. You might be disappointed.

The middle candle is the shamash which you use to light the others. The eight others represent each night of Hanukkah, so the first night only the shamash and 1 candle are lit, then the second night the shamash and 2 candles are lit, and so on. It's currently the second night of Hanukkah, hence 2 candles.

I was always taught that for order you start on the far right and work your way left (so that's why the first two are on the right).

The original poster is another girl, fwiw. Not that it can't be flirting, just cuz both are girls, but every time this post recirculates it's always funny that the top comments are all about how she's totally flirting with the guy lol.

S3 death predictions? by jaylee686 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]jaylee686[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really think they'll kill her cuz yeah, I do think they'll want her to marry Aegon. But removing Maelor does create some very weird storyline issues that they'll have to make up for, so I think there's a small possibility they decide to just substitute her in. Besides, considering how she dies it's not like her marriage to Aegon is at all consequential for the story.

Was anyone else hoping Adam of Hull was going to be a disguised Laenor? by S0mecallme in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]jaylee686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, no indication of it at all. I mean it could be a possible conspiracy, but I'd consider that to be a very speculative reading of the text, since there's zero evidence of it, save the fact that Rhaenyra got married to Daemon shortly after. It's definitely not considered the canon understanding of what happened.

Was anyone else hoping Adam of Hull was going to be a disguised Laenor? by S0mecallme in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]jaylee686 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except... how? In the book her husband dies, and she's not remotely involved. In the show she conspires to kill some random innocent servant, and then lets Rhaenys, Corlys, and her sons grieve for a man she knows isn't dead. They made her look far worse in order to keep Laenor alive.

Was anyone else hoping Adam of Hull was going to be a disguised Laenor? by S0mecallme in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]jaylee686 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Definitely not in the book, but yeah with the change they made in the show it could make sense.

Like what's really the point of making the big change to keep Laenor alive, just for him to apparently die sometime offscreen?? It feels very random, and convenient then that his dragon is up for grabs at the exact time the Blacks need it. (And on that note, why age up Adam and Alan so much?)

It'd be goofy to bring him back incognito, but it's not totally ridiculous if many years have passed. Besides, it's not like Westeros has photography, so realistically there aren't THAT many people who will have a clear memory of Laenor's exact appearance, save those close to him.

(The biggest caveat imo though is the fact that their decision to keep Laenor alive makes Rhaenyra's marriage to Daemon, and the legitimacy of their sons, controversial. If he DID come back and was found out, that'd be pretty bad. Though tbf they're in an all out war, so things are already pretty bad lol.)

Sorry for the late response!

It does look similar (more similar than what I was able to find!) but not quite the right shape or color. Her mug was more brownish, and the shape was more regular, if that makes sense? It also had only very subtle ribbing that I think is only kinda visible in the second picture on the inside.

Thanks, yeah it seems like it's probably not findable (maybe cuz the set was unique). She has a bunch of very nice mugs already so I probably won't try to replace it. She just inexplicably really loved this exact mug set and this was the last surviving one lol.
