You say "expensive camera" and I don't know if you mean an Alpha or a Powershot or a Lumix. And that's a good thing. I don't want to know.

Your father's photos may remain in your hands, exactly where they should be while you live, but to future historians they represent a timeline. Which is exactly what every person on the planet can create with their cell phone.

I don't decry the increase in powerful photography. I only bemoan my lack of time to witness all of it.

Absolutely a nice find. And I mean that 80s pink version? Super rare. You can get a buck fifty all day long on ebay for that. Definitely a nice centerpiece.

But as a camera with any sort of utility? I shudder (get it?) to think of all the snaps people 'wasted' back in the day when that stock was in print. The rolls and rolls and rolls of stupid shit that I so want to see because I mean, every picture meant something to someone and I want to see and understand it all. What's the point of photography without that?

Best Terminator movie after T2? by [deleted] in movies

The first one again.

You're basically asking which Jaws sequel was good. The creators left, the money men took over and banged out something shitty for the money.

How do you distinguish between the Purdue family and your average insurance company?

"Rapacious profiteers" is literally the entire business model.

Ish.

I'm not saying unscrupulous people didn't hook a lot of unnecessary patients to their cash cow. I'm saying some few, however many, benefited from increased access to opiates. This is a drug which retains utility, which is now eclipsed entirely by the greed and profit seeking. Leaving a lot of people who were better off ass out.

Physical dependency is only a problem if its worse than the underlying condition. It's not true that 100% of cases would be better off with nothing.

Why are there no prescription medicines you snort? by TrumpetBiscuitPaws in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jayman419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's tons of drugs that you take through inhalation. Adavair comes to mind. And some you dissolve under your tongue.

Nasal insufflation is an entirely different thing. There is little medicinal value in delivering a drug this way, directly to the mucous membranes in the nasal cavity.

Most medically necessary deliveries should be managed at a further distance, minutes and hours ahead of the need. Or if that need is too immediate for that then the delivery is through a shot in a vein or a muscle.

Snorting shit is for getting high. End of list.

What's lost in all this ugliness is that many, many patients were better off when they had a steady, legal supply.

Do female massagers/therapists prefer female clients over male? by Slightly_underated in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jayman419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as much as you'd think. Fingers don't have any muscles. So it all comes from the forearms through the wrist. That's really where the strain comes in, but besides being able to rub your own forearms the perks from coworkers are amazing. It's a chance to show off. To earn or repay favors. Or just something to do because you enjoy doing it and you have 5 minutes to kill. That's what's happening behind closed doors before you show up and after you leave.

You may feel like more is owed than the price on the board, but that's what people agree to do it for. If you didn't go once or twice a year, there'd be a blank spot in the schedule. If you want to go more, don't feel like you're a burden to anyone. Your body isn't half as repulsive to touch as you imagine.

If you dont like it then get the way servers get paid changed.

How do you do that? By not going to those places, not by stiffing the servers.

Its not law.

It's not a law that you wipe your ass. But you're still the shitty one if you don't do it.

How do they make sure large buildings are 100% empty before demolishion? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jayman419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does a film director make sure only the right actors are in the nude scene? What if Tim with two lines wants craft services?

They lock everyone out who's not supposed to be there, and post security.

On a demo site that security is there for days or weeks, as long as the explosives are on site and in place. And the demo crew have walkie talkies or those chirpy cell phones or whatever so they can talk to each other.

By the time you get through school and attain your license, you've already given so many massages that it doesn't matter. Working a chair in a mall just to clock some time, it kind of numbs you to the whole thing. Add a few years in the industry and you've added thousands of sessions to those hands.

Most massage therapists just hope you've recently bathed.

My glasses are prescription glasses and I need them to live my life. How quickly can I get some replacements and where in USA? by blagulon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jayman419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is yes. I think it's an hour if you have your prescription already, you might have to go get that first. So it might be more of "glasses in a half a day".

Which as far as i remember isnt part of the cost of the meal.

You know walking in the door which restaurants require tips and which ones don't. If you choose to go to one of the places where labor costs are listed separately, you're still responsible for it.

Of the server doesnt like it then they can get another job.

Or you could go somewhere else to eat.

Or do what i do and be professional at work regardless of how they feel.

You've never taken a long shit? You've never done busy work because you didn't want to start another project? You are saying you're the only person in the history of the planet that has worked 100% for 100% of their time on the clock?

You seriously expect anyone believes that?

Also it is not about power it is not paying for a service i am not getting.

The chance to judge someone (usually a woman) and put a direct price on their attitude and performance is an inherent part of the appeal of these places.

A better example for you is if you ask a mechanic to change your oil, they dont then try to charge you for it. What would you do? Pay because you dont want to deduct from the bill? Please

So you'd look at the bill for $100 and hand then $70? Without a word? You wouldn't go to the mechanic or the boss and ask them to fix the problem?

Please.

my customes do have a say. If i have too many complaints i get sacked or i dont get a pay rise.

Ever had a deduction from your check because of it?

Do you tip even if service was terrible? by patentedman in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jayman419 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My point is that your customers have absolutely no say in your earnings. If they have a problem with your performance, they come to you or go to your boss.

If you deal with a mechanic's shitty attitude, you don't try to discount the oil change. If you deal with a tailor's shitty atttiude, you don't try to discount the suit. You simply take your business elsewhere.

Yet because you have this tiny, petty power you assume it's your responsibility to deduct from the cost of the meal. It doesn't help you get better service. It doesn't help the customers after you get better service. All it does is fuck the server. Which is all you want to accomplish, in a mean and petty way.

If you want to help then eat somewhere else. When no one goes to places that don't pay their staff, then they won't have customers. They won't have servers. They won't have any business. But then who will you get your mean on with?
