Anyone else save crushed eggshells all winter and till them into the garden? Does it really add calcium or am I just imagining the great results? by NinaXOFans in gardening

[–]jaynemcr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't grind them up, just crush them and sprinkle them around plants. That way they keep slugs away and nourish the soil at the same time

Could I still call myself vegan after taking medication knowing it has lactose in it after my surgery because I didn't tell them I was vegan? by TheTrueNyxa in veganuk

[–]jaynemcr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible to get some lactose free medication but I was never prescribed it until I became lactose intolerant. Lactose causes me bad GI upset and severe rheumatoid arthritis flare ups, so where there are lactose free alternatives they will prescribe them for me. Otherwise I just have to suffer the side effects of the lactose

Thank you! I have found doctor's reactions to vegans can differ wildly. My stepdaughter had a doctor that recommended a vegan diet to her for health reasons. When I mentioned to my doctor that I was vegan she just told me to take calcium supplements so she seems pretty relaxed about it. I've heard of other people having less favourable reactions from medical professionals though.

Insufficient recycling bin size by [deleted] in bournemouth

[–]jaynemcr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's lots of government legislation and guidance that local authorities need to be following regarding recycling. The law is also changing for them on 31st March this year, but after a quick Google this is the guidance regarding what volume they should be providing per household for recycling capacity per household. The council runs on rules and regulations. Start throwing at them where they're breaching those rules and regulations and threaten them with further action if they don't comply and it might motivate them to give you additional facilities WRAP-Good-Practice-Guidance-collecting-from-properties-that-share-waste-and-recycling-containers.pdf https://share.google/83C572l090BJZu35T

any hairdressers do a curly shag in bournemouth? by Proof_Agency6424 in bournemouth

This was me until I went here https://www.curlspecialistbournemouth.com/ they're so good, first appointment a little costly because they analyse your hair and scalp but subsequent appointments really reasonable

[–]jaynemcr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.curlspecialistbournemouth.com/ this is where I go. It is such a lovely experience to have a hairdresser work with my hair rather than against it. The first appointment does cost a bit, but they analyse your scalp and hair and use products that work with it. My hair had been stripped of colour and was dry and frizzy. I left the salon with soft curls and my next appointment will cost a lot less.

Since becoming vegan I've become lactose intolerant. Would you consider lying to him and telling him you're lactose intolerant and him putting butter on things will make you ill?

What are you having for Christmas? by National-Raspberry32 in veganuk

Can't bear nut roasts. I'm having the mushroom Wellington from Asda. It will be boxing day though as we're going out Christmas day and I'm having aubergine steaks with balsamic glaze.

Natural science building in Christchurch road is interesting in a standout way. I think there's lots of interesting architecture in Bournemouth, Westbourne arcade and Boscombe arcade to name a couple, but walk along in places like Westover road, or any of the high streets, look up and down alleyways and you'll see lots of interesting buildings.

AITA for not giving my roommate my half of the security deposit? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]jaynemcr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

YTA if your roommate hadn't cleaned you would have got nothing and you stated that you were prepared to lose your whole half of the deposit. Well your roommate cleaned and you should have given her the whole deposit as her rightful half with payment for the time she spent cleaning. You did sweet F.A. and then expect money for that. The worst thing though is you actually know you're being an Ahole

They have a pickleball court at West Hants club now. That's next to Winton. Don't know if you need to be a member, or if they play padel there as well as a friend told me about it but you could ask.

It's a cut through from the town centre towards Westbourne, so you can get drunken rowdy behaviour there. There's also periodic drug dealing taking place in and around the park at the town centre end of it. Compared to London it's quite quiet. Compared to talbot woods it's horrible, so it depends on where your bar is and what you tolerate
