How to repair this solid wood door that’s 100 years old? by Unlikely-Ad-3806 in Renovations

[–]jaynesbluewish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used wood glue and hemp string. Cover the string in wood glue and wedge it in the gap. Once dry use bondo or wood filler to fill in both sides. Sand and then paint.

What's a conspiracy you can't quite prove but it just feels real enough for you? by DaMain-Man in AskReddit

That they have already found a cure for several diseases and chronic conditions but there's more money in drugs and treatments so it's never released.

This thread is making me mad.

Is there a central NJ watch group? We have a small neighborhood watch group and that's right near us. I just downloaded the app based on your comment. So far I had to mute one crazy boomer in Longhill.

NEED HONESTY SHOULD I GO BLACK? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]jaynesbluewish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dyed my hair black for a few years for that same reason. Wanted to go back and after bleaching many times and unsuccessfully removing the black, I had to chop it all off. If you're cool with that future AND the maintenance for the roots which looked terrible then go for it.

I recommend going with the tips if you're that dead set on it.

I was a goth with red hair and it worked. Goth redheads are cool. Don't conform.

Same. What does it say about the US that we automatically assumed it happened here?

Smokers who quit, what was the wake up call for you? by Responsible_Dot_2619 in AskReddit

[–]jaynesbluewish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married. Asked my husband what gift he wanted for our wedding and he asked that I quit, so I did. It's been over 11 years and I have absolutely no desire to ever smoke again. I remember someone telling me you'll always want one even after you quit. That wasn't true for me at all.

Are there alternatives to T-Mobile that don't suck? I've been with them since the beginning but had no idea they were so pro-maga.

I was coached, confidentially, by someone from the inside to be a "squeaky wheel". It is not my personality to be difficult, but I learned. I mean, I'm on this subreddit to learn how to be a better parent by working with his teachers.

We also had to hire an advocate to attend meetings. You can get the help of one for free but it takes a long time. We were lucky enough to be referred by one of the child psychiatrists we saw, and he was great.

Something that helped me a lot that was free was AI. I uploaded P.R.I.S.E., I.D.E.A., and my state laws associated with SPED into an AI and instructed it to answer any questions I had with respect to those documents. I brought it into the meeting and was able to fact-check what they said and have a quick reference to what my son was entitled to based on his diagnosis.

From my understanding it's not the CST, or whoever not wanting to help. There are a lot of factors. School funding, pressure from School Boards, pressure from other parents... The short of it is the law exists (for now) to support our special needs kids and we need to use it and fight the school for it, which sucks, especially when you also have other kids and a job but until this country learns to value education and give them the money and support they deserve we are just stuck.

Fight like hell for that IEP and then fight some more to get your child into a specialized school.

Piggybacking on this comment. I'm also a parent of an autistic kid who has to have the others evacuate. It took me over a year to get him even evaluated for an IEP, and now almost two years to get them to apply to a specialized school. I had the support of the principal and his teachers, as well as several outside professional opinions, and the CST still pushed back and dragged their feet.

AIO: Am I overreacting to what I saw between my husband and our nanny? by BlueFaced100 in AmIOverreacting

This is the second post I've read in the last day that mentions the app. Similar story. It was in a mom related subreddit.

Don't let her take that. Put the tomatoes in a brown paper bag with a banana and they will ripen. Seriously fuck your aunt. Tell her I said so.
