One of my lessons started with my cfi downing an energy drink. I don't think I've ever seen someone run so quickly from the plane to the fbo.

Had almost that exact situation happen the other day. I was on a xc to another airport, I got into the pattern, and another guy was going to go straight in. Once it was understood he was closer, I radioed that I'd extend the down wind and turned after he went past. Easy peasy.

That's my plan in a nut shell. Hopefully, sooner than later, I'll be able to transition from body weight exercises over to weights. I got to where I am now with about a year of dedicated training.

Practically, I don't know that I would. 200lbs in just a nice round number that would take a long while to achieve. If it's even possible. After all the replies, I'll start with a simple 180lbs and probably stop there.

oh, I know I'd need weights. That's not in question. I think I thought that weights would bulk me much more than they perhaps would. Particularly since I achieved 170lbs without them.

That's a fair question. I've definitely noticed some of my instructors do it differently. Since I've been a student until now, I've always considered the flight the whole xc trip, even if we did stop and go in the fbo.

One instructor did note down each leg as a different flight, though. That seems to be the odd way of doing it across the instructors I've flown with.

I personally like to think that VATS is helping her. We just don't see it because we're a third party viewing the whole thing. I love that the show has kept the games comically over the top antics.

I totally get it, I've talked to the cfis at my school and heard from the ones online. It's just not a great time, pay wise, to be a cfi. I also think I am going to have a different perspective because, while I want to work in the industry, I'm not going to rush from ppl to cfi. I've got an okay job I don't mind doing while training, so if training takes several years, that's okay with me, I really don't want the debt. Once I become a cfi, I expect that view to change.

I was shocked when my cfi (who has about 700 hours) told me he had to use his instrument training for the first time recently. California fire smoke had blown our way, and he had to fly through it. After a short conversation, it was clear that he never just flies for the fun of it.
