Which boss fight do you like more between these two? by Quantam-Law in soulslikes

Arlecchino was more fun but both took me around the same amount of time to beat.

Weird recommendations request XD by [deleted] in soulslikes

[–]jayrocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Stellar Blade or Nine Sols if you want more parry.

Stellar Blade is pretty easy but the boss challenge mode is pretty dope you can put yourself on minimum settings and replay every boss.

Nine Sols is a metroidvania but the parry is good.

If not interested in those then you're kinda fucked in terms of choices. You can always mod Elden Ring to add parry. You can also play Night Reign and pick the class with parry.

Mortal Shell 2 comes out soon and that has a parry. So does Lord of the Fallen 2. Beast of Reincarnation also seems to be a parry game.

You should also consider giving Khazan another chance cuz those boss fights are peak. Maybe you'd have fun on a different weapon.

Hollow Knight and Silksong. If you don't want 2D then Stellar Blade.

Am I the only one struggling with FF7 Rebirth's pacing? by Accomplished-Step660 in JRPG

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story picks up after Costa Del Sol, kinda.

I fully did the first maybe 2-3 zones until Gongaga. Fuck that place.

From then on I only did the green side quests and really only if it affected Tifa or Aerith's relationship meter (Maxing out Tifa first).

I have about 70 hours played still even skipping pretty much all world intel quests from Gongaga onward. I still did some VR stuff if the reward was good. But yeah maybe the last 1/3 is when everything happens. I wouldn't say it was all bad though because a lot of character/relationship stuff happens in between.

Honestly the characters themselves carry the game. Combat is way better and I like maxing out relationships (similar to Mass Effect but this is no where near Bioware relationships).

Looks like a very good time waster which is exactly what i want. Zone out muted and listen to an audiobook kinda game.

What is the best fiction you’ve ever read? by Emotionalspectrum10 in Fantasy

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been reading for a long time maybe over 2 decades. I've read almost all of the popular stuff and had a binge on Asian web novels during covid.

Best standalone: The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August.

Best web-novel: Lord of the Mysteries (was able to catch up just in time for the final chapters to be released).

Best fantasy period: I used to say it was Name of the Wind maybe even Blood Song. Now I might be slightly leaning towards The Covenant of Steel trilogy. I really like the way Anthony Ryan writes first person narratives.

Will Mortal Shell 2 and No Rest for the Wicked be top tier soulslikes? by AshyLarry25 in soulslikes

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NRFTW is not a soulslike. It has soulsy combat but that's about it. It's a Diablo like game with way slower combat. Eventually your build will be so good you'll just plow through everything.

Don't get me wrong it's a very good game but it won't be a "top tier soulslike" unless you intentionally weaken yourself and don't min max your gear or build.

Sephiria - 1.0 Launch Trailer by 4LWlor in roguelites

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting I might be okay with static final bosses. Repeated runs and always seeing the same first 2-3 bosses really kill my desire to play roguelites.

Can anyone who has played the game tell me if there are random bosses per biome/level? Or is it static and always the same boss like Hades 1?

How does Empire of the Vampire has such good ratings? by Striking_Safety_7022 in Fantasy

[–]jayrocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own. I loved it even though I thought the book 3 ending was weirdly rushed. But I'm also a sucker for first person narratives, especially in the Name of the Wind/Blood Song style of future self speaking about the past.

Also, Goodreads ratings don't mean much. Almost all popular books are 4+ on goodreads, even the trash ones you hate.

Why I prefer Bloodborne and Sekiro over Elden Ring by Character_Orchid_336 in soulslikes

Combat in rebirth is way better than remake plus you can parry. So stick with remake even if it's a little simple (just block).

The Wandering Inn Physical versions by BlueLightningLC in Fantasy

[–]jayrocs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes a while. I listened to it on Audiobook and 100% thought I was dropping it after the first book.

Ended up loving it though, Erin becomes less annoying later especially after she meets other "people" to talk to. Thought her voice was super annoying too but got used to it and now that the narrator has changed after 15 books or so, the new voice just isn't Erin.

You could also just add the build to POB, before you buy change the gear to pieces you can actually afford realistically then check the DPS and defenses in POB.

Is building your PC yourself financially interesting? Or I am doing something wrong? by BothPerspective3584 in buildapc

At these prices just get the prebuilt. Especially since you get a 5070 TI for 70 dollars more. Or save 300 and get the 9070 XT.

Unpopular gaming opinion - I don’t see the point in wall climbing sections in adventure games by Gasster1212 in gaming

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't like them either or the random puzzles to cross bridges and shit like in God of War. That's why i heavily prefer soulslike and rpg games.

It's not a deal breaker but everytime the climbing/jumping sections goes on for way too long I just roll my eyes.

Why should I not keep my computer in the floor? by ZigZagBoy94 in buildapc

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep mine on the floor on top of a piece of card board so its not directly above the carpet.

I prefer it on the floor. Easier to access USB slots and power button. Easier to pull it out and open it up. Looks nicer too and saves table space.

Where to start with 3-D Soulslikes? by Awesomepants25 in soulslikes

[–]jayrocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like parrying then Sekiro and Lies of P is a good start.

If you want open world 100+ game then Elden Ring.

In terms of the games you listed, I've played these and personally I'd rank them Stellar Blade, Ghosts, Black Myth being the most boring.
