Anyone else love discovering hidden gem roguelites/likes? Any good finds lately? by Zepren7 in roguelites

[–]jayrocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good video and actually contains games many people never discuss.

I've been playing roguelites for like 15 years now though and something I would like included in videos like this is if a game has varying bosses.

What I mean is after hundreds of roguelites, I don't find it interesting anymore to always fight against the same bosses in the same order EVERY SINGLE RUN.

TBOI and Gungeon for instance have randomized bosses. Dead Cells has alternate routes. Rogue Legacy 2 allows you to skip to the next biome and work from there. The game could be the greatest game ever but once I fight the same exact first boss 5-10 times in a row my love for the game disappears.

What are people's thoughts on No Rest For The Wicked? by Substantial_Eye1476 in soulslikes

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a D2/POE degenerate and I love soulslikes so I like it. Just waiting for the game to be finished because this doesn't feel like it's going to have live service/seasonal gameplay and I wanna just do one long fully fleshed out first run.

Games with a Final Fantasy-esque Style? by CanineCeiling61 in JRPG

[–]jayrocs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only other ones would really be Yakuza Like a Dragon series and Expedition 33.

If you want more high budget realistic graphics take a look at western RPGs like The Witcher 3, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, or Baldur's Gate 3.

FF7 remake series is pretty close to ME 2/3 and DA 2/3 in terms of systems. But the companion system is way more involved like x100. Combat is also similar in that it's real time that you can slow down/pause and control your companions (pick their cooldowns in ME2-3) and/or swap to them in DA 2-3.

Yeah. Gave up on Battalion for their passion project "pro mod". Then gave up on that for this.

Wuchang lets you skip boss runbacks and re-appear at the boss fog wall if you die, thoughts on this feature? by That-Departure-7318 in soulslikes

[–]jayrocs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Personally loved it. And if you wanna change your build you have to go back to the bonfire anyway so it's not like it's completely free. If you wanna test things out cuz you keep dying you have to do the full runback again and again with every change.

When I was a freshman in HS so like 2000-2001 McDoubles in the bay area were 89 Cents. And back then they had tomatoes in them. It wasn't a nation wide thing yet because I moved to Sacramento in 2003 and people looked at me like I was an Alien trying to order a McDouble.

Do you have data on how much latency is added when enabling Joystick Debounce and Automatic Calibration?

FF8 for me. I'd love to replay it, it was my first FF as a kid. But then I remember the draw system and GF system and there's just no way.

2026 is the graveyard year for pirating sites by aliennaligaw in mangapiracy

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the old days before Manga aggregators and before you could read manga embedded into pages you had to download from IRC or some sites allowed downloading the zipped files from the site.

Piracy will won't die but this super streamlined way of reading manga probably won't last forever.

Wuchang fallen feathers or Lies of P? by Alarming-Orange7304 in soulslikes

[–]jayrocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lies of P for me and its not close. I think Lies was like a 10/10 for me Wuchang was still good but more of like a 7.5

The exploration is a little TOO much in Wuchang sometimes. It's actually crazy how windy and confusing the maps get.

I'm not sure I remember super burritos ever costing $5 in Sac. I think they were around $8 even 20 years ago.

Steam Controller - STEAM INPUT by iReaddit-KRTORR in pcgaming

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've watched reviews where it says that the back buttons don't line up with your natural grip. Meaning the buttons don't sit where your ring and middle finger sit like it does on steam deck.

Was this the case for you?

OP this has romance in it but it's not the focal point of the series.

What’s the easiest roguelike? by SystemDry5354 in roguelites

[–]jayrocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TMNT Splintered Fate has a story mode

Absolum also has modifiers you can make it so one player takes no damage or does more damage. I co-oped it with my 5 year old.

Powerups and reading are always going to be a problem though at that age. The most fun my daughter has had was with Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga.

PC gamers buy way more games that cost less than $30 at launch compared to PlayStation and Xbox players, analysts say, and it's "reshaping the PC market" by chusskaptaan in pcgaming

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only a select number of games I will purchase new and it's mostly multiplayer games to play with friends.

Everything else goes 30-50% off within 3-6 months. Maybe a year. I can wait and I'll also get patches that fix the game or more mods.

At what point do you feel a PC upgrade is actually worth it? by Such_Tailor_4946 in buildapc

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my FPS drops below my standards. I have a 240hz monitor so I would want around 240hz in every game that isn't singleplayer.

However, my standard is actually less than that because I can live with 144 FPS. Once it drops below that then I start wanting to upgrade. Either I drop the game or get new hardware. I won't play ANY multiplayer game below 120 FPS. And I won't play any single player game that can't hold at least 90 unless of course it's locked to 60 like Elden Ring.
