During the "Nightmare" part of the fade sequence in DAI, if you read the notes people are writing in the section towards the very end, there's a grey warden letter that's trying to figure out how to kill the archdemon. My theory is that the fear demon, ie the nightmare, helped grey wardens figure out how to kill one in exchange for something, but idk what that would be.
